Katherine and Jack walked hand-in-hand down the street heading off toward her warm apartment. There feet crunched on the snow underneath, and cool puffs of air wafted from there mouths as they spoke, the New York air freezing there words in mid-air. Katherine shivered and clung to Jacks hand which was her only source of warmth at the moment.

"What's da matta? Youse cold?" He asked with a chuckle. Katherine shivered in response and pulled her coat tighter around her body. She couldn't comprehend why Jack didn't look cold, his black jacket was thread bare and worn. He didn't look cold but Katherine knew he was, who wouldn't be in 16 degree weather? Her apartment came into view as they walked down the street, which happened to be located right next to the World building, well, It wasn't really her apartment. When she turned 16 she begged her father to let her have her own apartment sense she had a job. So he made a compromise with her and agreed that she could live in the apartment next to his work building until she turned 18. Technically her father payed for most of the rent heaven knows Katherine's salary alone wouldn't pay for the nice apartment, it slightly annoyed her but at least it was something to call "hers" at least for now.

"Thanks for comin' with me." Jack said with a smile "It woulda been boring with out you." Katherine grinned at him as they came to a stop in front of her door. He was right Medda was great and all but Jack always made things more fun when he was around. (Most of the time)

"Well thanks for taking me Cowboy." She said pulling his hat over his eyes. He smirked and pulled it back in place. She placed her cold lips to his cold cheek and murmured, "You should come inside, get warmed up maybe?" She asked hopefully. His smirk grew and his eyes danced hopefully.

"Get warmed up? Youse sure that's all you want to do?" He asked suggestively raising his eyebrows. Katherine flushed and smacked his arm.

"Don't make me hurt you." She threatened in mockingly. Jack opened his mouth (no doubt to say something horribly suggestive) but Katherine cut him off with a swift kiss on the mouth. "Come on." She said after a few moments. She grabbed his hand and entered her warm apartment. The warmth was like sinking into a hot bath, it was glorious. Katherine took off her thick jacket as they entered and placed it on the coat hanger, Jack kept his on and headed straight for the roaring fire that was nestled into a wall. Her father must have sent some one to start it, because she sure didn't. Her apartment was very cosy, across from the fire place was a couch and straight in front of her was the living room heading off into the kitchen, at the back of the kitchen was a set of stairs that wound up to the top floor of the World, she hated thoes stairs from the moment she moved in, not only did it make her kitchen look like some military defense base, but it was also insanely easy for her father to take a trip to her apartment. More than once he had crashed there after a late night and she had woken up to find her father on her couch. She wouldn't have to worry about that tonight because he had a long meeting planed out for the night and Katherine knew very well he would want to go home after all the meetings that were ahead of him. The fire lit up her dark apartment and it cast a shadow over Jacks face as he warmed his hands up next to the fire.

"What's the matter? You cold?" She asked quoting him. He rolled his eyes at her.

"Maybe a little." He said truthfully, just then Katherine caught a glimpse of light coming from his jacket. Was his coat on fire? Nope, that couldn't be it as she looked closer she could see it was actually a hole making it look like his jacket was ignited.

"Jack!" She said marching over to him and clutching the side of his thin jacket. "You have a hole in your coat!" She said shocked.

"Yea, so?" He asked pulling the fabric out of her hands.
