Chapter Three
"Race ya!" I yelled as I took off in a dead sprint across the school parking lot.
"Hey, that's not fair!" Ethan laughed as he bolted to catch up with me. I touched my Dad's Honda Civic, panting, when Ethan finally caught up to me.
"Alright you two, get in the car!" my dad said through his rolled down window. Finally, going to dance with my best friend! When we arrived, we dashed inside to change from our school clothes into our dancewear. I put on my smooth musical theatre shoes; they fit perfectly to my foot from my constant dancing in them. I breathed in the smell of sweat and determination that filled our studio, I was ready to dance.
"Katherine, Ethan," Miss Meredith called from the front studio, "come on in!"

Our duet practice was hard core! We were fine polishing each and every single move down to perfection for our competition. Spotlight had tough competition; almost every studio in town was going there. By the end of our lesson, Ethan and I were sweating more then we ever had.
"Thanks kids," Miss Meredith said handing us our waters, "great practice today!" There was a loud thud as Ethan and I collapsed on the scuffed floor.
"Go and get a good night's sleep for Spotlight tomorrow," Miss Nancy continued, "we want you looking your best!" We shouldered our dance bags and refilled our waters.
"Thank you Miss Meredith!" Ethan and I said in unison. She smiled back at us. I pulled open the door and we stepped out into the dry afternoon. Mrs. Mercer had a huge grin on her face when Ethan and I stepped into her Highlander.
"Ethan guess what I have?" Megan said, her grin getting wider.
"What?" Ethan asked slyly. One million thoughts were racing through my head. Did Megan get a new job? Did she find Drew's report card? Did Drew make- My thoughts were interrupted by Mrs. Mercer yelling.
"YOU MADE BILLY ELLIOT!!!!!!!" Megan screamed with joy.
"OH MY GOSH!!!!" I screamed. Ethan's mouth hung agape.
"What?" he managed to squeak.
