"Who are you?"
"The name's Alex. What's it to you?"
With an expression of clear pride-hurt annoyance, Steve glared up at her. Her back was facing the moon, which casted a shadow over her face. "I don't know, I'm not really used to seeing other human faces around here." He grumbled.
She slid her sword back into it's sheath and placed her hand on her hip. "Obviously." She smirked.
Steve just narrowed his eyes in response.
She chuckled and offered him her hand. He reluctantly accepted it, and she pulled him up. "Why did you fight me?"
"Why did I fight you? You were the one who attacked me." Alex folded her arms in front of her.
"Y-you startled me!" Steve retorted, flustered.
"Apparently."
Rolling his eyes, Steve grabbed his sword from the ground, which reminded him of her earlier remark. "Did you say I need lessons?" Steve turned to look at her.
"I believe I did."
"Who are you to say that to me?"
"A skilled fighter."
Steve's expression instantaneously turned to anger, while hers remained in a smirk, as she was clearly enjoying this more than she should.
"Alright, Miss Excellence, you wanna go again?!" Steve advanced threateningly, though it seemed to do nothing to Alex's confidence. In response she expertly slid her sword out and held it in front of her. Steve mimicked her actions, only he fumbled in his anger and frustration.
He waited for her to make a move as she remained still with a smile. Finally, he lashed out, swinging it without much thought in where it was headed. She flipped hers around and iron clashed against diamond.
Next thing Steve knew, he had been thrown to the ground full force, and Alex was grinning down at him triumphantly.
"Again!" Steve insisted, not yet ready to give in.
She readied her stance and again waited for him to make the first move. He took the chance by the throat this time and lunged at her.
Again, Steve found himself on the ground. "God dammit, again!"
And again, and again, and again. He struck some good hits, but Alex was very skilled in both offense and defense.
"You know," said Alex for about the fifth time, "You can always-" "Yeah, Alex, I know!" "Well, you're not doing it!"
Steve growled, spun his sword around and struck her side. She swung hers to her side, but only just fast enough. She swiveled her sword under his. "Oh not again, you don't!" Steve thought angrily and held his grip. Now, Alex may have some quick skills, but Steve was stronger then she was. Forcing his the opposite way, he managed to get his blade under hers and swing his up and hers flew out of her hand.
She looked surprised for a second, then it flashed into a smirk grin. "See, Hotshot? That's how you-" Steve cut her off by tackling her to the ground and pressing the sword against her throat. The expression he wore was nothing but fury.
"Whoa! Do you have any sense?" Alex asked.
"Do I have any sense? Asks the lady who comes onto my land, in the middle of the damn night, and fights me for no god damn reason!" He glared furiously into her emerald eyes, oblivious to the distance between them. "Y-" "Bitch." Steve growled. Alex's face contorted into dangerous anger, something that struck fear deep inside Steve, past his realization.
"What did you just call me?"
"You heard me."
"Yeah, I did. And that was a huge mistake." She replied darkly.
Fast and ruthless as a storm, she hooked her legs over him, grabbed his shoulders, and before he knew what had happened, she had completely flipped him over. The next thing after that, he saw her reach for his sword out of his peripheral vision.
"And one more thing." Alex said, a sinister look upon her face. "It's never a good thing to call a girl a bitch."
Hey guys! I'm so sorry for taking a month to post smh. Things got insanely busy for me, and it's still going to be busy. But after I post this chapter I'm going to start immediately after and get chapter 3 out, and if I have enough time, I'll do chapter 4 too to make up for lost time.
But, some things to say about chapter 2. Firstly, I'm not good at writing fight scenes yet, so it's not the best, but I tried. Secondly, Steve obviously has some anger management issues, but it's for character development! Also, thanks so much for reading this story! It means so much to me that I'm even getting reads, and any advice would be greatly appreciated if you have any!
