Punishing page 1: Meeting

Running... Screaming.... Fire. What the Hell happened? I only remember my father going into the lab and... An explosion. No... Father. I need to get up. But my legs won't move well my whole body can't move.

?: Kill all humanssss.

Was that a robot?

?: Kill them Allll.

Come on body work! Work dammit!

?: Human contactedddd.

My body finally stood me up as I saw one of the most terrifying scenes of my life. Hundreds of robots with their glowing red eyes staring right at my eleven year old eyes. Many people that I've known on the floor dead. A sea of blood forming around me. Run!

I ran as fast as I could as the machines started chasing me. I saw a piece of rebar sticking out of some rubble. I took the rebar out and looked at a machine running at me nearby. I took the rebar and jammed it in its eye at it went through its whole head. The thing went down with the rebar inside of it. I walked out to the barren wasteland of death and destruction.

One month later

It's been one month since the outbreak of the punishing virus... and the loss of my family. I've been on my own learning the virus. I've been trying to find a way to reverse-engineer it too make me immune to the virus. It's been a very grueling task, having to kill a couple of infected beings to get the samples I needed. I found something, something good. It is possible to reverse the effects and make it apart of my bloodstream... however, I wouldn't be entirely human anymore. Since the virus is a nano-virus, the mechanical bots would be in my body forever.

Me: Here goes nothing.

I put the syringe in my veins and press the trigger. I could feel the bots crawling in my veins. It hurt tremendously. I fell to the ground, my body spasing out on the floor. The pain then suddenly stopped. I groaned as I got up off the floor.

Me: I feel... light, powerful.

I took a single step as my body dashed twenty meters ahead of me.

Me: Woah! What the hell, I didn't expect this!

I then suddenly had a tingling sensation in my stomach as I moved my head to the right. A red blade appeared in my view as I rolled away. I looked at the girl. She had Snow White hair and red eyes. Her red blade shining brightly. I smirked at her knowing my new abilities.

Me: Almost had me.

The girl looked at me dissatisfied and sheathed her blade.

???: Who are you?

Me: Me? Ah just some human surviving on his own. Killing machines and infected in my path. You know, the norm.

She looked at me with her blank stare as I looked back at her. She drew her blade lightening fast and came at me as I grab my knife and block it.

Me: My you're fast! But I'm faster.

I say as I ran around her so fast she wasn't able to see my body. She looked around with her blade in hand. I send an afterimage of myself at her left as she thought it was me as I disarm her from behind and point her blade at her neck.

Me: You could use a little work with your surroundings, but overall you're good.

I say as I flip the sword and give it back to her. She grabs the blade and looks at me suspiciously.

???: Why didn't you kill me?

Me: Meh, I didn't feel any real evil intent in you. All I see in front of me is a lost girl who lost everything because of a selfish prick.

She nods and sheathes her blade.

???: Maybe because that's what happened.

Me: What's your name?

???: I don't really remember my name. All I remember was being called a name by "Alpha."

Me: Huh weird, anyways want to come with me? Since you really have nowhere to go?

She thinks for a moment then nods.

Me: Alright Alpha, all aboard the Atom train.

I didn't notice it, but she smiled a bit looking at me being a little childish because of what's going on. She follows me as we return home.
