Chapter 10: Ekwensu

"C'mon Ari, it's not so bad.", Chi called out, trying to catch up with Ari. He was now fully dressed. Both were headed to the Sacred Hall to find Zee and update him on the 'Prince Oga' situation.

"They now think I'm gay. You could just see it in their eyes. They think the reason I reject their advances is that I'm your gay partner! Ugh! Chi! I WILL kill you someday!", Ari steamed up. Then he calmed in seconds. 'Well, maybe this will reduce the annoying pile of love letters I get daily.', he thought, consoling himself.

They both walked into the large passage leading to the Sacred Hall. As they walked, they heard the voices of Zee and a woman. Chi stopped Ari just before they entered the hall. "Hey, Zee is with a glow-female. How about, we respect his privacy and just stay here listening in on the conversation instead of rudely walking in and ruining his fun?", Chi whispered to Ari.

"It's really amazing how your mind works.", Ari said, shaking his head.

Just then, they heard Zee summon;
"O Great Ekwensu, Dark Lord of the Netherworld. I summon you. Look kindly upon me. Rise. Accept my sacrifice and restore the soul of my dearly departed love..."!!!

"What!? What's he doing summoning the Dark Lord?!!" Ari and Chi peered through the crack in the just barely open door to the Sacred Hall. The scene they witnessed was terrifying.
Zee was in the centre of a pentagram with Celine's snow-white corpse lying flat on a raised platform before him. As he chanted and summoned, he held a weeping newborn baby above Celine's body.

Slash!
He slaughtered the newborn with his dagger and let its blood run all over Celine's corpse.

The moment the blood was spilled, the pentagram activated, lighting up with scary black and red flames.

Zee's chant intensified.

"Rise! Ekwensu! Rise!", he invoked the Dark Lord.

Darkness started to seep in through the black and red flames of the pentagram and collect in the centre above Zee.
Turbulent dark energy swept through the Sacred Hall.
The sunset skies of Author's Peak turned pitch black!

'No!' Chi and Ari could not believe their eyes. 'This is witchcraft! Dark magic! It's forbidden!', they thought.

Soon, a huge cloud of thick blackness had formed right above Zee!
The black clouds opened up a clearing in the middle that mimicked the reflective, gentle flow of a freshwater stream.

Zee stared into the pool and saw Celine's soul!

"Cee?... C... Cee!", he called, stretching his hand towards the image in the pool.

"Quick! Slit your palm to complete the ritual. Only then will her soul come to you.", The Red-haired sage voiced out to Zee through the turbulence.
He immediately complied, slitting his palm. His blood dripped.

The Celine in the pool stretched out her hand, breaking out through the glass-like surface of the pool to Zee below.
He took her hand with his bloody palm.

Suddenly, green lightning tore through the thick, dark clouds above with the fierce rumbling of thunder.

The face of the soul of Celine turned vile, evil! Out of her came the most heinous laughter in 3 voices!
Zee was stunned! 'No! That's not Cee!', he thought, but it was too late.
Zee watched in horror as the darkness consumed Celine's corpse whole!
Then the evil Celine and all that darkness entered straight into him! The force violently knocked him to the ground.

He was possessed!

Chi almost yelled out, but Ari was quick enough to grab his mouth and shut him up before he gave up their location.
