My thoughts address Estrella. "They are complete sister. The next generation of leaders will protect the oath." Her responding tone was proud. "Yes, sister. At last, their destiny emerges... As fate meant it."
My leaders depart. After a brief sauna shower, proving to relax them more than they realized. Yonell answered a knock at the door. Yosdaniel had delivered a small round white table. After thanking the pack member, Yonell set it up in the living room. Rosa aided with its preparation, searching the linen closet for two white blankets.
From descending footfalls, old wooden steps creak. Arriving, I find them shuffling, preparing for the seance. As is tradition, Rosa has draped the chair stationed in the living room center with a white sheet. "This is Alejandro's seat." A second cloth drapes across the tabletop. Rosa returns to the kitchen to retrieve seven empty goblets used to focus spiritual energies, serving as a focal point by which spirits will appear. "Dona Francisca," Rosa asks, "Where are the prayer books and candles we will need?"
Francisca, busily stirring the traditional stew for the dead. Comprising various vegetables, meats, fish, chicken, and seasonings traditionally called Sancocho on the stove. Waves her hands backward in a half-moon without turning from the stove, pointing towards the dinner table. "There, sister." Turning, Rosa sees it on the table and is surprised. Everything we require, including Florida water.
Rosa turns back to Dona Francisca with a smirky expression. Casually meeting her gaze with a turn of her head, Francisca says, "Remember, Mija. Before being a medium. I was a mystic and student of our senior Alpha." Her gazing sense of humor reflecting at me now.
Yonell, entering the kitchen, witnessed the items materialize, "Your gift remains as powerful as always, Hermana." Walking to retrieve the items. After recovering them, Yonell heads to the living room, placing them on the table. Rosa does not follow. Instead, she speaks to me, "Hermana (Sister)." A wall of emotions floods into me. Forcing me to turn to face her. When I do, her eyes are puffy, her body slightly trembling, her hands folding nervously upon themselves.
"Rosa," I say, with a compassionate tone going to her. Hugging her, I wave my hand to shield us from our aura, sensitive leaders.
Rosa's head comes to rest on my chest, beneath my words, her cries begin softly, "Rosa. Please don't cry, Hermana. We have kept our promise to protect and raise the next generation of Celestial Guardians. For fourteen years, we have protected them, sacrificing ourselves time and time again keeping them safe, Rosa. We dissolved our pack, moved away from one another, and watch loved ones die protecting our cubs. Waiting until moment would arrive, where we would once again reunite."
Gently pulling back, red puffy eyes meet mine as I continue, "Our boys have made it, Hermana. They are grown; I have been reunited once more with you, my pack sister. These seven years have been pure joy, Hermana Rosa (Sister). I have missed you all so much. Yonell, my sister, belie, and the Cuba Sombra pack."
"But mi Hermana, I..I.. why you alpha? Is there no other course?" Patting her shoulders within my embrace, kiss her forehead.
"Come, Hermana. Our time is at hand, and we will no longer live with secrets. Our cubs will have the peace they rightfully deserve."
Beneath her snifflings, Rosa's words betray her desire to continue crying. "Si (yes)... my Alpha." Looking up into my eyes. Renewing water building within. "You have always been ... MORE than my Alpha Cary. I want you to know that. You have always been ... my sister." Rosa cups, my face kisses my cheek, and we hug. "I know Rosa as you have been to me." Closing my eyes, feeling her love. When without warning, a whoosh of air explodes into the kitchen. I do not investigate. Yonell.
"My Alpha." Yonell's tone is proud, powerful. The Senior Alpha who... If I allowed it, I would exchange his life for mine. Joining the embrace, we stand there comforting one another. After a few minutes, I pull back and kiss both their cheeks.
"Come." Dusting off my clothes from invisible dirt. "They will return soon, and Cocoa discreetly has informed me Alejandro is educating two human males in the difference between a true predator... and his true prey."
Both chuckle slightly, "and Reuben?" asks Yonell. I smirk, "Would you believe he is watching? Amusing himself at how Alejandro is toying with them." Rosa, wiping away tears, sniffles.
"Ahi Mija. Prime Alpha needs to learn tolerance. You know, I remember when he was a wulfling. Alejandro was just as mischievous. Toying with wulfings three times his age before beating dem senseless." I respond, chuckling, "AHII siii (OHH YESS)!! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!" we chuckle, returning to the task at hand. Speaking fondly of our cubs as youths.
