VALENTINA MARKOFF opened her office door and overlooked all that was going on inside the Dragon's Den. The Dragons were one of the most influential clans in Ketterdam and Valentina was their ruthless leader.
In Ketterdam, everyone knows about Valentina Markoff. The inferni grisha who played by her own rules. She grew up on the streets of Ketterdam. Her father was the ruthless leader of the Dragons before her and she learnt everything from him. The name Markoff was bound to make anyone shiver in Ketterdam.
Valentina looked down at the happenings in the club. She spotted the blond hair of Theoden, keeping watch for any trouble makers at the tables. Theoden or Theo as he is known to most people, might not seem like he was much but Valentina knew his worth. He was one of Valentina's oldest friends. His parents had dumped him in Ketterdam when he was just ten. Valentina had run into him on one of her many little adventures in the streets and had brought him back to the Dragons Den. Ever since then, Theoden had been a part of the Dragons.
Valentina walked down the stairs in her stunning red dress and started circulating the room. She slowly made her way around the different tables, ending up at the bar. She waves a barman over and what the boss wants, the boss gets. She was quickly handed a glass of kvas which she downed in one gulp. She puts the glass down on the bar where it was quickly refilled for her. She sits down on a bar stool facing the rest of the room.
She sighs and looks as she takes another sip off her drink. Looking around the room she spots Theoden, some of the guys from her regular crew and in the far off distance she spots Feodora Elin, her right hand girl, walking through the club's doors. She makes her way through the club, sharing a glance with Theoden and makes her way to the bar where Valentina is sitting. She waves a bartender for glass of kvas and sits on a stool next to Valentina.
'What do you have for me, Feodora?' asked Valentina. Feodora, as well as being her right hand girl, was also the most trustworthy person to get her reliable information about the happenings of the Barrel.
'Not much, but I heard that Brekker had eyes on a new job.' replied the dark haired girl as she took a sip of her drink
'Really?' wondered Valentina.
'Yeah, and a local one I hear.'
The two girls sit in silence, Valentina deep in thought. So Brekker was planning something. That could not be good. He was always getting her dragons in trouble. So much that lines had to be drawn, and no crows were allowed on dragon territory.
After a few minutes of reflection, Valentina turned her stool to face the main room, and said 'we need to get our hands on that job. I won't let that bastard keep us in the dark any longer.'
Feodora turned to face Valentina and said 'So should I send a message? A way to discourage him?'
'It's alright, I can deliver that message myself. With you and Theo there of course.'
Feodora could do nothing more than just agree. Valentina was never afraid of getting her hands dirty. Her dress, yes. Her hands, never. Her father had taught her that violence, whilst an unconventional way of doing things, was usually the easiest and fastest way to solve a problem. And it looked even better if the leader was the one delivering that message. So, the girl had chosen to follow any and all advice her father had ever given to her.

After a well rounded evening, Valentina met, as usual, Theoden and Feodora, upstairs in her office. It was a richly decorated space, with red velvet sofas, bronze ornaments on the marble mantle and a large mirror in the corner of the room.
Theo had thrown his black, evening jacket on one of the sofas and was laying down, a glass of whiskey in hand. Feodora was the last to walk in the room. She makes her way to where Theo is laying down and grabs his legs and makes him sit up.
'Hey!' he exclaims, 'I was sat there.' He complains.
'You have to share,' replies Feodora as she sits down. She grabs his glass and downs it in one gulp.
Theoden grabs his glass and looks at it sadly, 'Rough night?' he asks.
'You don't know the half of it. Can you get me a refill?' She says pointing at the drinks.
'Get one yourself,' he replies, getting up to refill his own drink.
'Are you two nearly done?' asks Valentina, 'Because we have some things to discuss.'

The thing that Valentina hated the most about Brekker was that he didn't deserve to so successful. He'd only been in Ketterdam for a few years but was already well on his way to being the most ruthless leader of a gang. He and Valentina had had more than one run in that had turned to be more violent than anticipated.

Over on the other side of the Barrel, KAZ BREKKER, was keeping a close eye on the happenings at the Crow Club. He had Jasper acting as a bouncer for the night as things were getting tensed around. It was key that no trouble makers came in the Crow Club as things were tight enough, that a trouble maker could make Per Haskell much more unhappy than he already was.
Valentina and her dragons were causing the dregs a lot of trouble and he wouldn't stand for it.
Kaz gave one last look to the main playing floor and hobbled back to his mouldy office. He sat back behind his desk waiting for Inej to return from one of her outings.
When the minutes pass and Inej isn't here Kaz grabs his crow head cane and makes his way downstairs. He hobbles around the playing room, his eyes never missing a detail and makes his way to the door. He sees Jesper being sociable with everyone around him.
He holds his cane out to him, hitting him, to make him aware that he was needed upstairs. He turns around startled but sees his boss waving him inside. He hurries inside following Kaz, moving very fast for a cripple, and the pair make their way upstairs.
Jesper sits in one of the free chairs and raises his feet up on the desk, waiting to hear why his boss pulled him out when he was having such a nice evening.
'So,' he says nonchalently, 'care to tell me what this meeting is all about?'
'I sent Inej out on a job scouting mission and she hasn't come back.'
'Oh.' says Jesper.
'Yes oh,' he replies back, 'and get your feet off of my desk.'
As he brings his feet down, in a huff just as the window opens, letting the wind come in, chilling the room and a shadow comes in.
'Inej, finally!' exclaims Kaz, 'What do you have for me?'
'A job,' she replies, 'but I caught Valentina's girl there as well. They're onto us Kaz.'
