"Aapko mujhse milne ke liye is tarah ke stunts karne ki koi jarurat nhi hai. Janti hain na aap." A deep masculine voice halted her steps midway from reaching the bedroom. The voice was strangely familiar but she couldn't recognize it.
"Umm..... suno koi aaya hua hai kya phupho se milne." Sayra asked a passing by servant in a low voice, considering that a stranger was present in phupho's room right now.
"Nhi toh ma'am, haan lekin abhi kuch der pehle hi Ibrahim sir aayein hain." He replied politely. She felt a sudden knot in her stomach, hearing his name.
She felt a strange feeling of fear to face him. The feeling was too strong that she wanted to hide in a corner."Ma'am......umm ma'am mai jaun." His voice made her come out of her dazed state.
"Aa haan....lekin pehle yeh soup phupho ko de do." She gave the tray to him.
"Ji thik hai per....... before he could said something more, she sprinted away. He confusedly saw her walking away as if someone was chasing her, shrugging his shoulders went to give soup.
"Ma'am soup?"
"Haan yahan rakh do." Said Ibrahim pointing towards the bedside table.
"Lekar jao isey. Mujhe yeh beswad soup ki jarurat nhi thik hone ke liye." She made a face at the mention of the tasteless soup.
"Bilkul nhi. Aap yeh soup piyeingi balke mai khud pilaunga aapko apne hathon se." He reprimanded her sternly, however the love and care was quite evident in his eyes. He had landed just a hour ago. He couldn't sleep a wink the whole night after Soniya had called him and told him that Mehzabeen phupho had fainted. His dad was out of city for some business purpose and the ladies had panicked themselves. The doctor had checked her and assured that it's because of stress that her BP was higher than normal but nothing is serious. Inayat had called him when he was in Islamabad airport and only then he took a sigh of relief.
"Nahi Rahim please." She tried to deny but he fed a spoonful of soup after blowing some air on it.
Soniya felt a deep pain in her heart, as if someone is slicing her heart with a sharp knife. He will not be hers, as her best friend is his wife and this is undeniable truth. She had loved him when she didn't even know the meaning of love. The small crush she had on him before had blossom in full blown love without her knowledge. But now She would have to steel her heart around him, it's not easy but for her own sanity, she have to do it though.
A lone tear slipped from her light brown eyes while looking at him, which didn't go unnoticed by her mother.
She hastily wiped it with her hands and tried to appear calm. Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart because of a certain someone's presence she entered into her mother's bedroom. Oblivious of her love as always he kept feeding her soup all the while narrating a funny incident about one of his client."Bhai chalein nashta lag gya hai." She told Ibrahim who just hummed in reply and after making sure that she had finished the entire soup, he left for breakfast.
She looked at the woman who was her mother. Albeit she was weak but even in her weak form she is still looking graceful as always. She sat beside her who was sitting in a half sitting position, while leaning on the crown of the bed. The woman observed her calmly as she eyed her sullen face and after looking for her sometimes, she held her hand and pulled her in her arms. Soniya kept her head in her mother's chest and sobbed quietly.
It was a rare sight to see her mother's showing some affection towards her. It's like a once in a blue moon thing. But It felt good to basked in her motherly affection. Dread had settled deep in her heart after she saw her mother's lifeless body. What would had she done if her mama.........no she will not think negative. Her mother is fit and fine now and she was so grateful to her Allah.
