Chapter 16

“So are we playing in teams or every person for themselves?” Dani asked as they all walked into the laser tag centre.

“Let’s do teams” Jayden suggested, “how good are you at this?”

“I’m pretty good. I always smash Jules,” she gave Julian a cheeky smile as he playfully punched her arm.

“Okay well then it’s you, Will and I against Jules, Trent and Zach” he declared.

“Well we’re going to get smashed cause I can’t play for shit” Zach laughed as they geared up for their match. They waited at the doors until the girl gave them instructions and let them into the playing area.

“Good luck baby,” Julian winked at Dani.

“I’ll try and go easy on you,” she winked back as they all ran in and their lights turned on. Jayden found Dani in one of the forts and whispered the plan to her.

“You distract Jules, get him cornered, and Will and I will deal with the other two”

“Jaydo, you make this too easy for me,” she whispered back as they separated and began their attack. After a minute of looking for him, Dani found Julian hiding against a wall, his back turned to her. She shot him as she ran to a closer spot and hid.

“Oh fuck,” she heard him whisper as he stayed in the same position with his lights out, hoping that no one would come back for him there. He lit up again and waited. She shot him again, this time moving even closer. “Damn, I need a new spot.”

“No you don’t,” she whispered in his ear from behind him. “I think this spot is perfect,” she continued as she began kissing his neck.

“Dani you can’t do this to me, stop playing unfair” he begged her as his lights came back on. She shot him again. “Fucking hell”

“But don’t you love it when I do?” she moved her lips so that they were now touching his as she ruffled his hair with one hand and held her gun in the other. His lights came back on as the girl who gave them instructions before spoke into the microphone.

“No displays of affection please”

Dani moved away from him as she shot him again and ran, a smirk evident on her face, “got him a few times Jaydo!” she hi-fived Jayden as she ran past him.

“Good job!” he patted her on the back. The rest of the boys laughed, knowing how easy it was for her to distract him.

“Jules you’ve gotta lift your game! We’re getting smashed over here” Trent yelled from the other side of the room as he tried to look for Will, who had shot him a few times before.

“I can’t help it! She knows how to get me,” he yelled back. Jayden shot him this time and his lights went out again.

“Sorry babe, games a game. You have to play your cards right.” Dani said as she ran past him, looking for Zach. As Julian’s lights turned back on, he went looking for Dani. He spotted her crouched in between two walls and shot her. “Damn!” he heard her say and he smiled to himself as she stood up. He walked up to her, knowing that she couldn’t shoot him because her lights were off, and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her close to him.

“I love you baby” he whispered, his hand lifting her head up by the chin and planting a kiss on her lips. Her vest lit up again and she shot his lights out.

“Nice try babe, but next time try harder” she laughed as she released herself from his grip and ran off. He laughed at his pathetic attempt to distract her.

“ONE MINUTE REMAINING” the computer generated voice yelled through the speakers. Julian ran after Dani, hoping to get her one more time before time was up. His vest turned back on but was immediately shut off again. He turned around and saw her standing there, a smirk on her face that quickly disappeared as Trent shot her. He ran up to her and lifted her off the ground and she wrapped her legs around his waist and he pushed her against the wall. She let go of her gun and both hands wrapped around his neck as she kissed him.

“I said no displays of affection” the girl yelled through the speakers. Julian put Dani down, not separating their lips from each other. Both their vests lit up but Julian’s was turned off again as Will ran past.

“Keep the good work up Dani” he yelled.

“TEN SECONDS” the voice yelled again through the speakers. Julian’s vest lit up again as he moved away from Dani and shot her lights out.

“Gotcha” he smiled and ran off, leaving Dani against the wall. The lights in the room all turned on and they were instructed to get out of the playing room. As they walked out, they checked the scores on the screen.

“So Dani got the most shots, which is understandable, and we won, which again is understandable” Will hi-fived both Dani and Jayden.

“Julian got the least amount of shots. No surprise there,” Dani winked at him as they all laughed.

“That’s not my fault. You kept distracting me.” Julian pointed at Dani as he took off his vest.

“You’ve got to have self-control baby,” she smirked.

“Oh, you mean like the self-control you were showing at the end?” he teased.

“You know there’s no such thing as control when you kiss me like that” Dani winked at him.

“Uh, sorry to break up this cute teasing game or whatever, but can we go and get something to eat? I’m starving.” Zach complained. Everyone agreed and they went to one of the cafes for lunch before going for a game of bowling and heading home. 

“Babe, I have to go home and get ready for tonight so I’ll see you around 7 o’clock” Dani informed him.

“What’s tonight?” she forgot to tell him about the dinner, so naturally Julian was confused.

“Oh, we’re going out for dinner for your birthday so wear something fancy,” she explained.

“Ohhhh fancy, where are we going?” he was curious to know.

“I'm not telling, now let me go home so I can get ready,” she laughed as she gave Julian a kiss and began walking out the door.

“Wait!” he yelled after her. She turned around and saw him running after her.

“What?”

“I love you,” he said before kissing her and walking back inside.

“I love you too Jules!” she yelled after him, smiling as she walked home.

So terribly sorry about the massive delay in updating! Hope you all still read this. I guess this chapter is more of a filler but the next chapter will be posted later tonight and it'll be a little exciting, maybe a little emotional, who knows.
