Sleep. Who needs it? I drank two five hour energies just to stay awake during finals. That's ten hours worth of energy, in case you were wondering. The entire time I felt like an idiot for not sleeping because I was probably going to fail all of them simply because I was too tired to read properly. I also decided that being an idiot was worth it. Not that I'd recommend it, but, hey, as long as you're going to be a fool, enjoy it. Revel in it.
"Miss Springs, are you okay?" a voice asked.
My head jerked off my desk so fast, it took me a second to focus, "Oh, I'm fine, Mr. Hartford."
"Up late last night studying?" he asked sympathetically.
"Uh... yeah, it was a late night," I agreed.
"Well, I'm sure the hard work will pay off on this physics final," he smiled.
"Yup, I will serve the consequences, er, benefits. For sure," I giggled nervously and handed him my completed final.
"Thank you and enjoy your afternoon, I'll see you at graduation," he said.
"Oh right, I get to go home," I beamed and walked out of the emptying classroom.
Olivia was waiting outside, "How'd it go?"
"I don't remember," I admitted.
"Same," she burst out laughing.
"I need to get home now," I trudged towards my locker.
"Ruthieeeeee!" Louise squealed, running down the hallway. "We're done!"
"With what?" I asked.
"Um, honey, we're done with high school," she reminded me gently.
"Oh right, let's celebrate with a nap," I said enthusiastically.
"I'm driving you, remember?" she led the way to her car.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because we all drove my car today, so you don't have one," she explained. "Obviously you've never survived an all-nighter before?"
"Nope," I slumped into the back of her car and promptly fell asleep against the window.
"Ruth, move your butt," Olivia squeezed in next to me.
"Olivia, move your butt," Reuben complained.
"This is why five full grown and moody teenagers do not normally squeeze into a compact car," Louise commented, throwing her hair up into a high ponytail.
Charlie climbed into the passenger seat, "This feels great."
"I know! I can't believe we're done with high school!" Louise held back a sob.
"No, I was talking about the AC, it's 95 degrees," Charlie cranked the air conditioning on full blast.
"Dude, I'm trying to sleep, not go on a polar expedition," I glared at him.
"Chill out," Reuben chuckled.
Louise took a second then began laughing her head off, "That was actually funny!"
"Every joke I make is funny," Reuben looked offended.
"Including that one," Louise rolled her eyes before putting on her sunglasses.
