Senior Year - Sammy Wilk

Emma's POV

I woke up that morning and started getting ready for school. It was a monday morning and I didnt get much sleep that night so I was exhausted. 

I was 17 and a senior in high school. It was the 3rd week of school so I still had a while before I graduated. 

I lived in Florida so I wore shorts and a teal tank top to school. i left my long light brown hair in its natural waves and put on my basic makeup.

I checked my phone and had a text from my best friend.

From Lauren: Hey, can you drive me to school today, Jack isnt coming to school bc hes sick.

To Lauren: yeah sure no problem

Her boyfriend, Jack Gilinsky, usually drives her since she doesnt drive. Jack was really sweet and good to Lauren but was kind of a bad kid before they dated. He had the reputation of being a player but I guess something changed in him when Lauren came around.

After I brushed my teeth I yelled out to my little sister Lexi "LEX IM LEAVING NOW LETS GO" and she came running downstairs. She was a freshmen in high school so of course I had to drive her to school everyday.

I got in my white jeep and pulled out of my drive way. My parents always left for work way before Lexi and I left so I never saw them in the morning. My parents were in Africa for all of September for work, they were surgeons so they were in Africa treating orphans and people who didnt have money all for free for a full month.

In about 2 minutes I was in front of Laurens house and she walked out. I made my little sister get in the back seat so that Lauren could sit in the passenger seat. 

A few minutes later I pulled into a spot in the senior parking lot and the 3 of us walked to our lockers. 

Of course mine was right next to Laurens so we got our books and started to walk to our first period class together.

"Whats wrong with Jack" i said on the way there

"knowing him he was just too lazy to come" she said with a laugh so I joined in laughing too

"we really need to get you a boyfriend" she said

"idk i think i kind of just want to enjoy senior year, you know?"

With that we had arrived to the room and the bell had rung so the conversation was over. First period we had math so we sat at our desks and waited for the teacher to start. Senior year was basically a big joke, I was smart and took really hard classes and we still basically did nothing. 

As our teacher was about to start, the door flew open and a boy Ive never seen before walked in. He had dirty blonde hair and was pretty tall. He also was extremly good looking but seemed like trouble. He just had that look on his face that he did not want to be here and that he was basically miserable. 

"And who might you be?" our teacher said

"Sam Wilkinson, Im new"

"Ahhh yes, okay, well you can sit down in the empty seat over there" she said.

Of course that empty seat was behind me.

When he sat down I turned to him and said "Hey Im Emma" 

He didnt even look at me and just said "Hi" 

I was trying to be nice since it was his very first class of his first day here but guess not.

I turned around and started listening to the teacher talk about calculus. I couldnt help but wonder what some senior boy who probably only cared about partying was doing in a college level math class. 

The whole period i felt his eyes burning the back on my head and kneck and I felt uncomfortable even though I knew I shouldnt. 

When the period ended, I walked out with Lauren.  Once we were out of the room she turned to me and whispered to me "omg hes hott Emma, and he was starring at you basically the whole fucking period"

"Ehh, I said Hey to be nice but he was just an asshole" i replied

She shrugged it off and we walked our seperate ways to our next class. 

The next few classes were boring and uneventful but once i got to history I walked in and saw that Sam was talking to the teacher. Great, he was in this class too.

I sat down and I heard our teacher say to Sam "you can sit whereever you like" and then within a few moments I noticed that he had chosen to sit down next to me.

"Hey youre in my math class right?" he said to me, he was acting nicer then before but I still had my doubts about him.

"Yeah" i replied

"Cool, Im Sammy by the way" he said sticking his hand out for me to shake

"Im emma" i replied shaking his hand.

With that the teacher started teacher thank god because it broke our awkward silence. 

When the class ended I walked out to go to lunch.

"Wait Emma" Sammy said trying to catch up to me

"Hey" I said when he got to me

"you dont happen to have lunch right now right" he said 

"actually I do" i said with a smile

"Cool is there anyway that I coud hang out with you then because I really dont have any friends here"

"yeah no problem, I was gunna go off campus and get like chipotle or something, is that fine?" 

"yes sounds great" he replied

We walked out to my car and got in. 

"Chipotles good?" I said before we left the parking lot

"yeah thats dope" he said

I drove to chipotle and we ordered. At the register, Sam was paying and ended up paying for mine too.

"You didnt have to do that Sam" I said while thanking him

"Its no problem, its the least I can do since you are my only friend here" 

We ate our food and then left so that we would be on time for our next class. 

I walked him to his class because he had no clue where it was and right before he walked in the room he turned to me and said 

"thanks for everything emma" with a wink.
