--Scott--

Mitch is 6 months pregnant now. His back hurts and his ankles swell, but he still works. I force him to take often breaks but otherwise, he's up all day working with me.

"Mitchy, sit down please." I said to him as he filed papers.

"I'm almost done." He responded, letting out a low sigh and sifting from foot to foot.

"Mitchell Coby Michael Hoying. Sit down or I will forbid you from eating ice cream tonight." I threatened, giggling afterwards.

"Fine. You know I want that ice cream." It was Andrew's 7th birthday party today. My sister was coming up to meet Mitch and Andrew for the first time. I wasn't nervous of course, only I haven't seen my sister in a while. I'm not much different but our family knew me as the drunk partier who didn't want to take over dad's company. Now dad is dead and the company is gone, meanwhile, I have two kids and a husband.

"I know you do, that's why I threatened."

"Are you excited for tonight?" He asked, sitting down finally.

"I am, a little. I don't know. My family never thought I'd settle down and get married or have kids. I never told them that's what I wanted in life. They knew about my ex but not why we broke up. They thought I didn't want him because he wanted to settle down, he seemed like that kind of guy."

"But it was the other way around, and now you're married with kids. Just what you wanted, and you have a good company that you work for with your husband. Life is good for you, Scott. Don't let what you used to be determine what they think of you now. They could have changed too." He sat back in the chair, I knew his back hurt like hell.

"We can leave early today. Around 1, okay?"

"Why do we need to?"

"You're in pain, Mitch. You need to go home and rest." I got up and went over to a mini fridge, grabbed a water bottle from it and handed it to Mitch.

"Thanks, but I'm not in a lot of pain. I'm okay."

"No you're not, and we don't need to stay anyway. There's nothing left to do after 1. And we have to go home and set up. So shush and go along with it." I kissed him quickly before sitting back down across from him.
