My monotone response deepens. A walnut lump in my human throat makes my words barely audible. "Yes, Estrella." Unlatching window locks. With a gentle push, glass panels encased in black peeling metal swing outwards, and I call to her.
"Goddess Oya. Devoted mother. The time has come. Only the first seal remains. I invoke you, Goddess of the cemetery. Remove that which was first to seal their true power.
So they may wield it in time most dire." previously spacious moonlight illuminating everything beneath the earth congeals. Becoming a single moonbeam unto my form, eclipsing the ground beneath. Radiating profound heat, it encases me. Then brightens.
In a breath, she stands before me: Oya, Goddess of the cemetery, recorder of souls. Kneeling to one knee, I submit, "Goddess." Her steps are soundless. Her soft resting touch reaches my shoulder. Multiple electrical sensations course throughout my human form. "Estrella, Cary. My Guardians. My sisters." Her words were laden with sorrow. Drawing my eyes to her beauty. In her face, I see the depth of her own pain for what is coming.
Squatting before me, Oya wraps her arms around me, and together we stand. "Sister." Pressed to her chest, within her comforting depth, finally, I wail. Comforting me, Oya speaks, "You have gone beyond your oath Estrella. Even father has said this. He wished this were not the path. But with this, the end to her insidious acts is assured. Our guardians will live in peace. Their lives shall flourish."
Releasing one another, we turn to the cubs. Oya's head turns to the left... "You may enter, my son." The door opens forest-green eyes illuminate my son-in-law's body. Crimson. "Mother." With him enters three more humans. One Opaque white orb phosphorous. Amarok, "Goddess." Two elder wulves with copper illuminating eyes " Goddess." All kneel respectfully. Then rise coming to my side, for a moment silence.
Oya waves her arm over their sleeping forms within the bubble. Translucent at first, they appear within the sphere then solidify. My wulf cubs. "They are magnificent Estrella, Cary." Her right arm was crossing my right shoulder, resting. "You were never a guardian to them, Estrella/Cary. You have always been...Their mother."
I cross Randall's side of the bed, approaching. "Will I wake them?" My watered sight meets Oya's. "No, sister. They will not. Even beneath your touch. Baba has made certain to that." With my returning gaze, my throat throbs speaking,
"Sable, Alejandro, Cocoa, Randall. You four have made every moment of our lives, every memory, worth living. Thank you. Please understand. I do this for you. I will not lose you."
With my lean, the bubble recedes, exposing my children. And I touch my children. Caressing Cocoa first, "My little warrior. You have come a long way. Together with Randall, you have both pathed new respect towards all gay supernaturals. Yet, you never lost yourself in your destined role. Never do my sassy little warrior. I love you." Kissing his muzzle. With this action, Cocoa grunts groggily, struggling to lift his head. "Mama Alpha?" My head jerks, witnessing the surprised facial expression Oya reveals. Then, softens. "Not even baba's spell can deny your Nephelium cubs from sensing you. Such is their love for you."
My gaze returns. "Sleep, little Cocoa. I am well." Kissing his muzzle, I watch Cocoa grunt then remove his head from my hands, placing it on Randall.
"Randy. You have given me my greatest smiles and richest peals of laughter. Reminding me every day, my Bff has always been you. I never allowed you to change and, you never did. When you told me of your preference. You were terrified. Thinking I would turn you away. But a mother. A true mother will defend, support, and accept her children unconditionally. Because of you, I learned what a true mother must also be to her SPECIAL children; A friend. Thank you for becoming my BFF."
"You and your brothers have been my greatest joy. For now, until your cub arrives to steal your heart as you did mine years ago. You will only have each other, my eldest. Support and love one another as I have raised you to, Randall. I will always be watching." Visually trailing Randall's sprawled arm and leg across Alejandro, I smirk "Gay Twiddle Randy. Always."
Walking around the bed to its other side. Arriving towards Alejandro, I hold. "Alejandro." my arm extends, my palm caresses his fetus-curled form.
"Alejandro. There is nothing more to teach you, my youngest. You have always hidden from living your life. Denying your true nature to live in peace. I cannot save you from the pain of its cost. I wish I could protect you from it. But, I will not be able to anymore mijo. I have Prepared you as much as I could. Done the best a mother could for her children. Save this; you will witness the depth of a mother's devotion. The rest after is in your hands."
Leaning, I kiss his cheek. Alejandro groans, moving his head upwards onto the pillow. "I love you, nene. Please Forgive me. I do what is best for you. This; the only way I could. I'm sorry."
Unable to hold back anymore. Tears stream as I approach my youngest cub. Reaching, I caress Sable's dappled fur. Identical to Estrella's. Sable's previously closed eyelids suddenly furrow. Deep within, Sable senses something and begins rousing, "Mother? Is everything alright." his groggy wulf speak asks. Again, I look to the Goddess. "Sable senses something amiss, sister. He is fighting the spell to awaken. His true nature is absorbing it into himself. You must hurry."
Smirking at Sable's persistence, my words soothe him, "I am well, Sable. I am right here. And I always will be, rest my youngest. Nothing is wrong."
Like his brother before him, Sable surrenders. His head slumps in my hands. "I know the pain you will hide, my cub. Please forgive me. It was my oath for the blessing you four have given me. I do this for you four. Remember My little Nephelium. Above all. Remember. You are MY CUB, and from the day you came into my life. I have always been; your mother. I love you. Lead your brothers Sable.."
Kissing his forehead, I pull away. Estrella illuminates my eyes towards the goddess. "My sister has spoken for us, goddess. I have no other words." Oya bows her head. "Save this." Estrella turns my human head. "My cubs. You have always been; My truest oath. Even from death. I will remain close."
Having been embraced by Reuben & Robert, we watch as Oya approaches the bed. With a lifting of her hands, the bubble raises and seals. "Allow that which time has held still. To awaken and once more be felt. Awaken warrior guardians of life. Fulfill. You true purpose. Become the night." The sphere encasing my cubs darkens beneath their power; shadows, specters, phantoms emerge, reaching for my cubs, removing their light seal. Then explodes within the sphere. The seal; is no more.
Oya's gaze held tears turning to me. "It is done, sister. The dark warriors will now awaken." With a hug to me, she walks towards the window. Stopping there, Oya looks towards the cubs once more.
"I am sorry, my children. I am so sorry." Her form turns translucent, her vapors rise into the night sky.
We watch her depart. Reuben & Robert kiss my hair repeatedly. Crimson's words mournful, "Teacher." Kissing both their human cheeks, I croak, "I ask you this, my young alpha and Beta. Allow me this time with my cubs." Both nod. Silently they step away and depart. Releasing Estrella. She returns to the bed. Lowering her wulf form delicately between the two humans. Once more, the only two on the bed. "My Babies."
