"Miss Martinez, I already have the results." The doctor stated as she entered the room where Diane and Regina waited. Miss D immediately gets up excitedly but the look on her doctor's face was not that good. The excitement on her face immediately faded away and changed into a worried one. Napalagok siya ng laway habang inaantay ang kasunod na sasabihin ng doktor.
"It's a good news, right?" Asks Diane. Pero siya mismo ay nakaramdam na hindi kaaya-aya ang resultang tinutukoy ng doktor.
The doctor heaves a deep sigh then she looks at Regina with sad eyes. Then she turns to Diane. "Mas nakabubuti siguro kung ikaw lang muna ang kakausapin ko tungkol sa kondisyon mo."
Diane looks at Regina. The latter had a very worried face. It must be a really big deal right? Kasi papalabasin siya? Maybe it's that confidential? Does it really need to be secret? Kung may malubhang sakit ang pinsan niya, dapat lang rin na malaman din niya para malalaman niya kung paano makatulong?
Instead of asking so much questions, Regina stands up and heads to the door.
"Tawagin mo lang ako ha." Sabi niya sa pinsan bago pa isinara ang pinto at iniwan ang pinsan kasama si Doc Kate sa loob ng clinic.
"Why doc, what's my condition? M-may sakit ba ako?" Agad na tanong ni Diane nang sila na lang dalawa.
"I will be straightforward to you, miss Diane. You have acute cervical cancer."
Before Diane could process what Doc Kate said, she can't help but think: What- I don't see anything 'cute' about it.. I mean..
"W-what? Why.. why would I have such disease?"
"I will explain to you everything. I will tell you everything that I know so far. Pero uunahin ko ang mas importanteng detalye." Giit ng doktor. Somehow, Diane wishes that Doc Kate is a prankster. Okay lang na prank lahat na ito, hindi siya magagalit. Please just let it be a prank.. Please let me be pregnant with Nikolai's baby. Mas okay na yun kesa mamamatay na ako. Mapapatawad pa siguro ako ni Alex kahit ganon ang mangyayari. Kung mamamatay ako hindi ko siya makakasama.
"You have at most 6 months to live." Dagdag pa ni Doc Kate.
Diane could hear and feel her world fell and cluttered into fragile pieces behind her. And the fast beating of her heart slowly slowed.. and slowed.. and also her surroundings slowed.. until she feels numb and empty..
