This idea came to me when my French teacher said we have to write a story in French. So I decided with a short story about Mark and Lexie. I of course have to write in in French, but I decided to write it in English first and then translate it. So I hope you enjoy! This is supposed to be a 1 part thing, but if you enjoy it, I will love to continue it! This will be in 1st POV (Lexie Grey).

I wait nervously at the hospital. The hospital is quiet, but I don't dare to say that aloud. I'm waiting for more doctors to show up. I just woke up from the uncomfortable beds in the oncall rooms. And that means, I wasn't with Mark, in our luscious fluffy sleep number bed. I rub my neck with my hand, trying to remove the ever growing ache. Today is going to be an interesting day. It's Valentine's Day and I swear Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital always has something catastrophic happen on days that are supposed to be happy and amazing. Like holidays. Patients start filing in, but none of them look too serious so I leave it to the nurses. I walk around for a little bit and decide to get some breakfast in the break room.

I eat a muffin, banana, and a glass of water. I look around and just get lost in my thoughts. I hear my pager go off and get this rush of nervousness and excitement. I go to see what Derek needs. He sees me and his charming smile lights up the room. I can totally understand why his nickname is McDreamy. He tells me about the patient we are going to work on and head to her room. He asks me to present the file and tell him different things about her ranging from where the tumor is located and how we're going to remove it. I easily ramble on about what is going to happen, but say it in a kind matter as to not freak her out.

"Patients name is Lila Stangard, 21. She has a Glioblastoma in her cerebral hemisphere. It is stage 4 and a very aggressive tumor. She has undergone some radiation therapy for 3 weeks in hopes that it shrinks." I pause and look at Derek. He nods at me so I can continue.

"We are going to do an MRI and go into surgery later this afternoon. We are hopeful to get 98% of the tumor resected." I finish.

Lila nods slightly, looking worried. It seems like Derek saw the look in her eyes and decided to address it.

"It is normal to be afraid and worried when you are about to have an operation done, but I am one of the best. You have to trust me and you need to know you'll be in good hands."

She responds with " I trust you," but you can see that the worry hasn't dissipated. We nod and grab her bed. We roll it towards the MRI room. I try to lighten the mood by making small talk.

"So do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?" I ask.

"Oh, you know, the usual. Getting my head cut open and getting a stupid tumor removed.. the works."

I give a short laugh and decide to tell her what my plans are for Valentine's Day. "Well, I think I'm going to work and maybe, just maybe I'll have time to eat dinner with my boyfriend."

She gives a bright smile and tells me to tell her more about my love life. When you're sick, you try to focus on the positives in other peoples lives because you don't feel too much hope. You feel the darkness clawing at you and taking you bit by bit. But when someone decides to share the positives in their life, you start to gain light and hope. It starts to destroy the darkness, at least for a little while. The darkness always seems to come back 10 fold when the light first shines through.

Derek looks at me and I tell the story of Mark and I. "Well our story is filled with tons of drama and romance." She sits up looking eager for me to continue. "We met right here in the hospital. He was a very charming and dazzling guy. His eyes shined when he talked to his patients and you can tell that he cared for them. I'm pretty sure we were instantly attracted to each other. He was funny and he makes me laugh on a daily basis. I'll skip of how we had sex when we barely knew each other..." She stops me and says, "Why stop, it just started getting good." I let out a giggle and Derek raises his eyebrow. I wave my hand so he could walk ahead of us. I seriously doubt he would want to hear about his sister-in-laws sexual escapades with one of his best friends.
