One day Kade Pritchard and his friend Alex were driving through the forest in their navy blue bug when suddenly they saw a shabby Tesla charging station, and across the road, there's a gift shop. The charging station looks like a kindergarten project, and the L is backward.
"Was that always there?" Kade asks, slowing down to look at the shop.
"No, but it looks super cool, and we need to go in there right now!" Alex says as Kade pulls over into the parking lot, and they both get out of the car.
"Are you sure, it looks kinda sketchy?" Kade hangs back near the car when Alex starts walking towards the shop.
"Kade their sign is glittery!" He points up at the roof. "How can you resist that?" Kade sighs and then follows Alex to the door.
"I feel like I'm going to regret this." Alex opens the door, and the shop is filled with postcards, snow globes, and sparkly pens. "Okay, I am so happy we stopped by this very sketchy gift store."
"Okay, now let's just- hey!" He looks out the doorway. "Our car!" They both run outside to see a group of orcs walking into the woods with their car.
"Hey!" Kade starts running after them with Alex at his side.
"Hey yourself"! Someone says blocking their path.
"I'm Patricia." She blocks the gap to where the orcs went. "Now I can't let you pass, because of... things."
"Come on, can't you move so that we can get our car back?" She shakes her head.
"Sorry, no can do," She leans against one of the trees. "I have to keep you here so that you don't take your car from us." Kade tries to go around another way but finds a human there blocking his path. "Oh, I forgot to mention, this is Lynn, and they will be helping me distract you."
"Wait," Alex says, "Are you the ones who keep stealing the cars?" The tall orc nods.
"Yup, that's us." She looks behind her then back at us.
"What are you even doing with them?" Kade says sitting down on a comfortable mossy rock. "Death ray?" Patricia, and Lynn laugh.
"No, we're actually making a car Stonehenge, and also some people get lost in the woods and need GPS signals, so we're making a cell tower, and we steal cars for parts. Oh, and we make our houses out of three or more cars, so in the summertime, we set this up, and people get lured by the glittering sign." They hear yelling in the distance, and then just birds.
"So, do you guys mind if we just go?" Alex asks.
"Actually that would be preferable to having to fight you two." Patrica and Lynn look at each other, and back to us,
"Actually if you want you can just come back to the village with us, and then direct you to the nearest bus station."
"It's the middle of the day, in Summer, and the busses only run from dusk to dawn, everyone knows that, so that is useless!" They look at each other.
"I guess you're right..." Lynn says, "Well, maybe you could call for someone to pick you up?"
"We're in the middle of the forest!" Alex says, throwing his hands in the air in exasperation. "We won't get any signal!"
"Actually you will," Patrica says, "Come back to my village, and there'll be a signal." They all start walking in the direction of where the car stealing orcs went.
"Consider yourselves lucky!" Lynn says following Patricia.
"Yeah," Kade gets up. "Lucky is one way to put it."
