Chapter 11- Part 5

Emmett and I laugh as we have decided to finally come inside and join the others. Rose and Jasper came back inside about three hours ago while Emmett and I have been outside involved in one-on-one combat which was quite effective and I learnt a lot about being able to defeat your opponent up close.

"What is so funny?" Alice asks.

"Nothing," I say when I am able to speak. Emmett punches me in the arm playfully. "Enough for tonight Emmett."

'Agreed. You have one tough daughter, Edward," Emmett says to dad.

Dad laughs. "Bet him up Nes?" I nod, grinning. "Good job."

"Hey!" Emmett says, acting offended. Dad winks at me. I look around to find mum but cannot see her.

"Where's mum?" I ask.

"Upstairs," Rose replies. I begin walking upstairs.I look in the rooms until I find mum in what use to be dad's bedroom. Mum is looking out the window to the forest surrounding the house. She turns and gives me a slight smile as she sees me standing there.

"Mum, what are you doing up here?"

"Thinking."

"About . . ?"

"I am worried about tomorrow, Renesmee."

"We will all be OK."

"I'm not worried about them, I am worried about you."

"Well, I will be OK also."

Mum abruptly stands up from the couch in dad's old room. "Do you think this is all fun and games, Renesmee? This is serious. We made the Volturi look stupid and . . . well, they wouldn't have taken that lightly, at all. We are all in danger here. I don't want anything to happen to you."

I wrap my arms around my mum, giving her a tight hug. She wraps her arms around me without hesitation. "I will be fine, I promise."

"You can protect me with your power," I add. She relaxes only slightly at this. "They cannot touch me if I am protected by your shield. I, we all, will be perfectly safe from Jane's and the other's powers. Nothing can touch us," I say reassuringly. I step out of mum's arms and she smiles at me.

"You're right, lets go down to the others," I nod and wait until she walks ahead of me. I stay close beside her as I don't want dad to over hear my thoughts.

I know that when I am close to mum I will be safe but I won't be able to the whole time, if she has or hasn't thought about that I don't know but I sure have. Mum's shield can protect everyone but only if we are all close to her, if we are too far away she cannot stretch her shield that far.

Aro will wish to see into my head and to do that he has to use his power. I could use mine but he wouldn't trust that I am showing him everything there is. His power lets him to see everything and that is exactly what he wants. He won't trust for me to allow him to know everything that has happened so Aro, by touching me, can see every thought I have ever had if he wishes to.

For that time, he is seeing into my mind, I will not be protected by my mum's shield and the others can use their powers on me as I am unprotected at that time.

I don't think they would though. They know my family would fight them if they did. But isn't that what they want? A fight? To succeed in creating a fight with my family, especially my parents, is to harm me. Which I know they will try, as we have no other choice but to leave me vulnerable.
