Human in Trollmarket

A young girl, maybe 8 or 9, is searching for something to provide her shelter in the storm, at least for the night. She can't afford to get sick, she has nowhere to go, no parents, no health insurance that the hospital would need. Plus, she doesn't want to go to another home. The people never seem to like her.

"Let's go, Aaarrrgghh. We have to get these things back to Trollmarket, before this storm hits. We could be discovered." says a loud voice in the canal, somewhere under the bridge.

"For someone who don't wanna be discovered, he sure is loud." the child mutters, seeing the carts the guy was talking about. It looks big, and there's a tarp over it. Ignoring the red flags from someone talking about trolls, she quietly sneaks her way over to the carts.

She gasps as one of the two creatures, because those are not men, almost spots her, but she ducks just in time.

"Aaarrrgghh, open the portal. Before anything on these carts gets damaged." one of them says, holding out a glowing gem.

The other creature, Aaarrrgghh, takes the gem and approaches the wall. He starts drawing, something, it almost looks like an archway, and the other creature is busy with the first cart.

The girl quietly and quickly vaults herself into the second cart, ensuring neither of them saw her, and covers up with the tarp. Surely wherever these carts are going it will be warmer, or at least dryer, than the canals in Arcadia Oaks.

"Portal open." Aaarrrgghh says, a very loud whooshing sound making itself known.

"Good. Let's get these through. Careful, now. Mustn't let anything be damaged. Deya help us if they are." the other creature says, grunting with effort as he moves the first cart, the wheels squeaking horrendously.

The girl holds her breath, hoping she doesn't get caught. She doesn't know what could happen, but it's probably bad. No one treats you with kindness, especially if done something bad, like stowing away on their cart, or stealing from them.

"Aaarrrgghh, the second cart, if you will." the first creature says, huffing from an apparent effort. When the second cart, the one she's stowed away in, begins moving, she stiffens in an attempt to keep the tarp from moving, and thus revealing her.

Suddenly the sound of rain and thunder is gone, with only the distant sound of the whooshing. She listens intently, so she doesn't get lost, and so she can find her way back to her canal after the storm ends.

The cart is dragged gently down the stairs, which sound as though they are made of glass, loose things in the cart bumping into her as they move around. They descend for what feels like a very long time, so they must be somewhere underground.

"Blinky! Glad to see you survived the surface. I hear those fleshbags are terrible. Absolute monsters those human things. Honestly, I don't know how you can stand to be around even just their relics and things. Imagine coming face to face with one." says a female voice as the stairs stop. The cart stops for a moment as the other voice, the first creature she heard talk, replies to the female.

"Ah yes. Nice to see you again Bagdwella. It's never quite easy, but better to know thy enemy then be unprepared." Blinky says with a seemingly nervous chuckle.

"Hmm. Well, enjoy your studying, Blinky. And don't be a stranger. Come visit me sometime." the female, Bagdwella, says with a seductive tone to her voice.

The child hiding away gags inaudibly, wanting to vomit. Even if they aren't human, people flirting is gross.

Apparently this Blinky fellow feels the same, because as soon as they leave her earshot he says "I really wish she would find herself another troll to be infatuated with. I already have enough trouble convincing everyone I'm studying these things because it could help us learn about our so called 'enemies'. I don't need her sniffing around, figuring out my secret."
