Chapter 10: Diagon Alley

It was the last week of the summer holidays and Lily and her parents went to Diagon alley to get Lily's last and final years worth of school supplies. Petunia went with them mainly against her will but still she went. First they went to gringotts the wizarding bank to get some money to buy books. After they got the money, Lily, Petunia and their parents went to florish and botts to get her books and a new quill for Lily's old one had broken by Petunia, she says that it wasn't on purpose but lily still had her doubts. They bought the books and the new quill and headed out the shop. Whist they were walking out of the shop and into the crowded street. Lily had bumped into someone with a familiar face, it was Mary one of Lily's friends from school. The girls hugged and started to catch up which unfortunately for Lily's family who were muggles because the stop was right outside the magical creature shop. Lily was used to all the magical things but her family however were not, "Lily?" said Mary grabbing her and holding her into a hug, "hi Mary, its been a while" Lily replied, Mary squeezed and Lily smiled "Not that long, loosen up I can't breathe", "sorry I'm just excited, I haven't seen you in weeks" said Mary, "I missed you too" Lily said laughing. "Sorry girls don't mean to inturupt but shall we move or continue shopping" Mr Evans butted in still eyeing the cage of cornish pixies, "Oh yeah sorry dad" said Lily trying not to smile, Petunia whispered something into her mothers ear, "Oh that's a good point dear" Mrs evans said, "We need to get some things for Petunia, will you be alright on your own, or do you want to come another day." "I'll be alright on my own mum, I am seventeen" Lily said, "I'll stay with her, my parents are busy so they didn't come" said Mary to Lily's parents. "Thank you, you are kind we will see you tonight lily stay safe" said Mr Evans, Lily said goodbye to her parents, got the money and they headed off, "Bye freaks" said Petunia grabbing her sister into a hug, "be safe" she whispered in an attitude Lily knew well and they left. "She's cheery" Mary joked giving a little giggled, "Oh you have no idea" laughed lily and the girls started shopping.

They went to almost every shop and even stopped for an ice cream twice, the second time because a bat took Mary's and lily laughed so hard Mary hit hers to the ground for payback. They even bumped into Peter and had a little chat as well as go to a few shops together.

" Are you excited for the new year?" Peter asked teasingly to Lily, "I think excited is a bit much after all it is a school year just as normal" Lily answered confused. Of course Lily forgot about the whole deal she made with James and the fact she had to date him. "What are you talking about Lils, don't you remember?" Mary chimed in. "Remember what?" Lily said. "You made a deal with James!" Peter shouted a bit too loudly. "Shhhhh" Mary said covering his mouth with her hand, "shit" Lily remembered about the whole thing now "I completely forgot about that, what am I going to do". "Yeah no kidding" Peter said with Mary's hand still over his mouth. "Seriously what am I going to do" Lily panicked. "How about go on a date with him" Mary chuckled " easy lils it'll be fine. Geez I have seen you this panicked in a while". "Oh shut up" Lily snapped "what if I do and it doesn't work out, how am I going to face him". "It will work trust me, just give the guy a chance" Peter said pulling the hand off his face and rubbing Lily's shoulder " besides it's a bit late to back out now we go back to school in a few days". Lily gave him a glare and he quickly shut up. "I have to go but I'll see you on the train" said Peter rushing off, "Oh how convenient for you" Mary remarked and just like that he was gone. "Calm down lils, I can't believe I'm saying this but Peters right, give him a chance besides he might surprise you.

What the girls didn't see was the direction Peter went to, which was over to two other guys, Sirius Black and James Potter who were standing over in an alley watching from a far, "Who were you talking to wormy?" said Sirius messing up his hair jokingly, " Oh no one important, let's just carry on shall we?" Peter laughed suspiciously. James had stayed quiet for he had known who Peter was chatting to by the red hair on one girl, a girl who he spent years loving, thinking about, wishing that the girl loved him back but he said nothing, "Yeah let's" said James hissed but tried not to make his anger at his friend for lying to him too obvious and they all continued shopping but James looked back once in a while hoping.

"I think I've done enough shopping for a month" Mary stated, "And me" Lily agreed. "We still have a few hours left, why don't we go somewhere just the two of us" asked Mary. "Sure" replied lily "but where to should we go somewhere magic or normal?" "Normal?" Mary asked confused, "Muggle" Lily answered quickly "I meant muggle". "Let's go somewhere muggle. I guess" Mary mumbled as if hurt.

They went and got a sandwich and drink and then went for a walk around whilst having a good laugh about hog warts and their other friends. "We should do this a lot more often" lily laughed "just the two of us". "I know" beamed Mary "we never really do that anymore, I don't know why", "neither" lily said, "anyway we should be getting back now it's getting late" "I agree" said Mary. They had a final hug and then went home.
