Bright lights awoke me from my sleep. I covered my face with my hands, hoping the light would lessen its glare. I sighed in contempt as my action proved successful, but I soon realised I couldn't go to sleep. I groaned in frustration, before blinking up at the ceiling.

Reluctantly, I pulled the covers off me and sleepily headed towards the bathroom. I yawned and rubbed my eyes before staring at the mirror. Dark circles were noticed under my eye, dried up drool prominent on the corners of my mouth and my hair was knotted and disheveled. Stripping off my clothes, I jumped into the shower and pressed various buttons, washing and scrubbing me until I was red. I grabbed a brush and worked through the knots, tying my hair into a high ponytail. I wore a black and red training suit, remembering the training session that would commence today. I frowned in confusion.

How do I know that there is a training session today?

I tried to remember when I was told, but nothing came to mind. I let out a short breathe. Effie probably told me, but I couldn't bothered to listen to her. I laughed a llittle at the thought, but stopped when I heard a knock at the door.

I opened the door to find Effie fidgeting anxiously and a weak smile protrayed on her face. I smiled brightly at her prescence, for an unknown reason. It was not until after a few minutes that Effie softly spoke.

"Ruby. Are you ok?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm fine," I replied confusingly. Effie breathed a sigh of relief before stepping forward and hugging me tightly. I was shocked at the sudden action of the Capitol lady, but responded with a small squeeze back. She pulled back before giving a smile.

"So you know that there is a training session today right?" Effie questioned.

"Of course. I don't need anymore of your nagging about this dreadful event," I stated as I rolled my eyes. Effie seemed to stiffen and made her leave quickly. I shrugged and sat down on my bed to put on my black training boots.

I walked into the dining room to everyone eating breakfast. I walked towards them before sitting next to Peeta. The chatter had died down and silence covered the table. I looked up to see everybody staring at me with a worried expression. I was confused with the looks and reached over the table to grab the orange juice.

"So...What are we doing today?" I asked. Immeadiately the table erupted with chatter and laughter. I smiled and listened to the various conversations taking place. As I was happily eating away at my bacon and egg, a hand rested on my thigh. I gasped in shock and was about to attack when I looked to see the owner of the hand was Peeta.

He stared at me in worry, as if scared I was going to disappear. "Where have you been, these past days?" he asked.

I stared at him confused "what do you mean?" I responded giving him a smile before placing my hand above his. After a few minutes I snapped my hands away from him instantly, realising my actions. I never acted like this...this...lovesick freak. I stared at Peeta as he slowly removed his hand from my thigh with a hurt expression. I wanted to hug him and tell him I'm sorry and that I loved him, but I couldn't...I wouldn't.

But I couldn't shake out what he said. What did he mean that he hasn't seen me for days? Didn't he just see me yesterday?

After finishing breakfeast, we headed to the elevator, which took us on an underground level. The walls were grey and red curtains hung against the wall. We emerged down a long pathway with statues of the previous hunger game winners. I looked to see Haymitch's statue. He looked so young and bold, standing in a menacing stance, arms crossed and feet wide apart. His face still held the same smirk, but the eyes worried me the most. To most people it would look as if he was happy, but up close, it held horror and nervousness. I shivered in fearfulness and kept walking, not bothering to look at the other statues. It was too painful.
