Thaila is 14 years old, a beautiful young girl with dreams, just like every other teenage girl. She lives with her father- Andreas, a single 44-year-old father. They live in a small, a little bit rusty house- about 2 miles away from the big gate of the big royal Lion's city. Their current leader is Louis The First, son of Milo The Third.
Lion's city was really beautiful and nice, where everyone wanted to live. But after Milo The Third died, his son, Louis The First took the throne, and instantly changed the law. His mother didn't believe that he was her son because they were known as the happy nice royal family. After his mother confronted him about how awful the city will be, he killed her.
After the death of his parents, he became even worse. He would torture every person that wouldn't work, even people that didn't live in Lion's city. That is the way that Thaila and her father would get tortured. The workers there would hit them while they are stuck on a tree. Every time they would see them, they would chase and torture them, just to make them go to Lion's city and work for him.
But of course, Andreas wouldn't go there, he would rather get tortured than work there and leave his only daughter to marry someone at a young age. He would build holes and other places where they would be safe.
One day, he got a crazy idea. He wanted to fake that he already works in Lion's city, just to know how people live there and what they do for a living.
"Father are you sure about this? You know that you will get tortured if they find out!" Thaila asked again, trying to convince her father not to put himself in danger.
"Thaila my dear, I'm sure. I will just go and see how they work and what they do to look so clean and rich. And no one will find who I am unless you tell them." he reassured his daughter.
"Why would I tell them, you know that secrets stay secrets." Thaila raised an eyebrow, thinking why would her father think about something like that.
"I know what you are asking right now, and no, I was just joking," said Andreas.
"I just hope you are joking." Thaila said, raising her voice, just a little bit.
They both laughed. They hugged each other so tight, that Thaila even had to tell him to stop hugging her that tight. He let go, and went on his way, to Lion's city, to find a better way to live his life with his daughter.
~two days later~
Two days passed, and still nothing from her father. She would play outside the whole day, just to get her father out of her mind, to stop thinking and worrying if he is okay.
"It's okay Thaila, your father is doing great there, he is finding better solutions for living. He is okay. He is okay. He is okay." Thaila whispered to herself, sitting on the grass while tucking her fingers in her soft, brunette hair.
*tap tap*
someone tapped on Thaila's shoulder.
"AH!" Thaila screamed, scared for herself, thinking that they found her.
"Shhhhh! Don't scream, the guards probably heard you!" said a boy, with brunette hair, the same as Thaila's, with beautiful brown eyes and a soft smile.
"Oh my Merlin, you scared me! What do you want?" asked Thaila, breathing heavily.
"Uhmm, what about hello, who are you?" said Alex
"You just scared me, why would I talk nicely to someone after scaring me?" Thaila raised her voice.
"Fine, I'll introduce myself. I'm Alex, I'm fifteen and I saw you tuck your hair, so I came to help," said Alex in a nice, calm voice.
"Well instead of helping, you made me even worse. I took a few pieces of my hair when I jumped. Thank you for that!" Thaila was speaking in a sassy voice.
"You are welcome! Anytime miss," said Alex, wanting to make her a bit madder.
"Don't make me want to fight you here!" yelled Thaila, getting up.
"Okay, okay, I was just playing. And, you are..?" asked Alex calmly.
"I'm Thaila Stark, I'm fourteen and I was stressed because my father went to Lion's city two days ago and he still didn't come back." Thaila introduced herself, a bit calmer than earlier.
"Oh well, bye then!" said Alex, running away, thinking that they are hunting people that don't work in Lion's city.
"Don't worry! We are not torturing people. Come back." Thaila yelled so that Alex could hear her.
"Oh okay, thank god!" Alex said, breathing heavily while coming back.
"Now let me explain everything," said Thaila, showing him with his hands to sit down.
Alex sat down on the soft grass, putting one of his hands up so that his head was resting on his hand. Thaila explained everything, and he was listening, nodding once every sentence. Not that he paid attention, he was just looking at her, staring deep into her brown eyes, while she was moving her hands, tucking her hair, but he wouldn't stop looking at her.
"Hellooo? Did you hear me?" asked Thaila, snapping her fingers in front of his eyes
"Oh yeah, sorry, I just zoned out for a second." Alex lied, it was obvious that he was lying.
"Then what did I say last?" Thaila asked, to know if he paid attention
"You explained how you and your father are in danger, just like us," Alex said something that he heard a little bit at the start.
"You saved yourself this time, but not the next, because we have to hide," Thaila said, getting up, taking his hand, and running to their hiding spot.
Alex followed her and jumped in the hole that was made on the ground, then helped her cover the place around them, so it looked like there wasn't a hole under the ground.
They could hear the horses running everywhere, and the guards on them yelling. After a minute or so, they couldn't hear anything anymore, so they got out.
Alex got out and then helped Thaila get out of the hole too. But, as soon as they got up and cleaned themselves, they heard some kind of a sound like someone's moving.
"Stop moving or you're dead!" yelled one of the guards.
As soon as they looked around them, they were surrounded by the royal guards. But what everyone saw except Thaila, is that she was holding her hand with Alex. As soon as she saw it too, she let her hand out of Alex's. He smiled because it was obvious that he liked her, even though they met about thirty minutes ago.
"What's so funny, kid?" asked the same guard again
"Oh nothing, can I just tell my girlfriend something?" he asked and noticed that she punched him on the arm.
"Do you think I'm stupid or something?" asked the guard
"No sir, but this is very important, it is about moving to Lion's city." lied Alex
They looked at each other, their faces a few inches far from each other.
"As soon as we're out of this trouble, I'll beat you for this!" Thaila whisper yelled
"Listen, I don't know if you want to meet again, but I want you to go outside of your house, by the river, every sunset, and promise that you will wait for me until it gets dark. And I promise I will come one day, okay?" he whispered, not wanting the guards to hear.
As soon as she heard his words, she knew what he was up to. He wanted to run away. She wanted to come with him, but then she thought of her father. How he would be lonely. So she started sobbing.
"Okay," she said, sobbing, even though they barely knew each other, but he seemed like a nice innocent teenager just like her, hiding, helping, somehow living the same lifestyle as hers.
"Be safe," said Alex
"You too," said Thaila hugging him
"ENOUGH!" yelled the guard "We're taking you to the city"
And just when the guard finished his sentence, Alex ran away. Few of the guards started running to catch him, and the rest stayed in their places so that Thaila had no chance to run away too.
