"Welcome to the library, how can I help?"
A chirpy voice asks from behind the school library's desk.
"Just looking." I muter and walk away from her still smiling face.
Even though reading is a strong hobby of mine, I don't like to go to the school library because I know that's where India and her gang like to hang out sometimes after school and I try to avoid seeing them at all times possible.
I walk over to the large Teen Fiction section and begin my hunt for the next book In the 'Matched' series.
It's nowhere on the shelves so I'm forced to interact with Mrs.Perky from the counter to ask about it.
She tells me that she had just seen a few of those books in the world languages sector of the library, then points me in the general direction of it.
I scamper towards the large area but almost shriek in fright when I see my best friend heavily making out with her boyfriend on one of the beanbags.
Instead I simply stand there, preparing to make my quiet escape from their not so Pg Rated scene.
Like the freaking clutz I am , I manage to knock over a heavy textbook onto my toe.
This time I do shriek but with pain and clutching my poor foot.
They both look up immediately and I smile in apology to India who looks away impatiently.
"Sorry about that." Her boyfriends smiles sheepishly , scratching the back of his head awkwardly.
"It's fine." I stutter and practically sprint out of the school library.
And I never even got my book .

By the time I get home my brothers already there waiting.
"Ben, what are you doing here?" I ask, setting my school bag down on the floor of the kitchen.
"Dropped out." He announces smirking.
I raise my eyebrows in disbelief ,"So you just happen to drop out of boarding school when you get a crappy report."
"Okay I was kicked out but same thing really." Ben admits.
I shake my head in disappointment and say " Oh darling baby brother you have little to no brain cells." And then pat his head in the most patronising way possible.
"I'm in the same year as you April." He reminds me.
He's 11months younger than me but in the same year at school.
"Oh yeah, sorry sometimes I forget because judging by your lack of maturity you would think otherwise." I tell him snarkily.
"Where's India?" He asks casually, changing the programme on tv.
Oh yeah, he doesn't know How much of a bitch she is now.
"Probably still with her boyfriend." I reply icily.
"Boyfriend? Wow, India Rosendale has a boyfriend. Wait you don't do you?"
"No Ben, I don't have a boyfriend."
"Good" he smiles. "You're not allowed a boyfriend till you're like 30."
"Probably won't get one till then anyway" I mumble.
And it's true.
India was always prettier.
India was always better at talking to people . And she always will be.
Better.
