Nine

--Mitch--

We finally finished setting up an hour before the party actually started. I couldn't believe my son was 7 already. It seems like just yesterday I was 17 and in labor. But now he's 7 and I'm pregnant again. But, life is good. Great really.

"Scotty, come lay with me for a minute." I called to him. He came in soon after.

"Hey love. Want me to rub your back, or your ankles? Anything you need?" He crawled on the bed and over to me.

"No, I just want you to lay with me."

"Are you s-"

"Yes. I am positive, Scott. I wanna lay in bed with my husband for a minute before I meet his sister and have kids yelling while I'm 6 months pregnant. It'll be stressful, so I wanna lay with the man I love." I leaned forward a little and placed my lips on his, "I love you, so much."

"I love you too. And, Mitch. Tell me if you need a break. No matter what we're doing, if you need to come back in here and lay down for a while, Andy will understand."

"Okay. I'll tell you right away, don't worry. But please, don't give all your attention to me, give it to your son please." I cuddled into his chest as best I could. I giggled when my round stomach pushed up against Scott's flat one.

"I'll make sure I do that. But if I see you struggling, all my attention will go to you and getting you out of there. Got it?"

"Yessir." We both laughed and then stopped when we heard a tiny knock on the door, "Come in." I said.

"Hey buddy." Scott said as Andrew opened the door.

"I knew you guys were in here. Can I lay with you?" He smiled at us and we both nodded.

"Come here baby." I said, wrapping my arms around him, "You get to meet your aunt today. And she has a kid too."

"She does?" He asked, looking to Scott.

"Most definitely. It's a boy. He isn't as old as you. I haven't met him more than twice. I moved here before he was born and have only seen them on visits."

"How long ago was it when you moved here dad?" Andrew asked, playing with the strings on Scott's hoodie.

"About 3 or 4 years ago. My sister is actually thinking of moving here."

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah. She talked to me about it last night when I called her. Her husband got a job offer here."

"Oh that's amazing. Will he take it?"

"I hope so. I wanna be there when my nephew is growing up and for her to be here while her niece and nephew are growing up too. I only have my mom now and she's all alone and getting older so then maybe Lauren and I could help her."

"I think that'd be good for you all to be with each other."

"Well my mom and I haven't gotten along well recently. That's why you haven't met her and she didn't go to the wedding. She was mad I broke up with Alex."

"Your ex? She knew him?"

"Oh yeah. She loved that I was dating him. He was the perfect guy in her eyes."

"Oh wow. Why don't you invite her today?"

"To Andy's party?"

"Yeah. Tell her Lauren will be here."

"I'll call but I make no promises."

--Scott--

"Mom?" I said as she answered.

"Scott. What's going on?"

"I wanted to ask you something."

"Is it money?"

"No, I don't need money mom."

"You don't?"

"No, I have a good job. I don't need money. That's not why I'm calling."

"Then what is it?"

"I wanted to know if you would come to my house today?"

"For what?"

"Well, I'm married mom. I have two kids and one of their birthdays is today. We're having a party and Lauren is coming up."

"You're married? With kids?"

"Yes mom. You can meet them today. Well, not all of them. One isn't born yet."

"You're pregnant?"

"My husband is. He's 6 months along and we have a 7 year old son. Please come mom. It'll be great."

"Alright. Tell me what to do."

"She's coming?" Mitch asked.

"Yeah. I called and told her everything. Even that you're pregnant."

"Oh nice. Well I hope she doesn't hate me. I'm no Alex but I do love you." He walked over to me and kissed me gently, "Ah, Scott. Feel." He grabbed my hands and placed them on his stomach.

"Woah."

"I know. She's kicking so hard."

"Shush. Don't jinx it."

"It's a girl Scott."

"What?"

"I went yesterday without you to make sure."

"Oh my gosh." I bent down in front of Mitch, "Hi baby girl. It's your dad." I kissed his belly and then stood up to kiss him.
