AN: INTERESTING FACTOID - I LISTEN TO ONE SONG ON REPEAT WHENEVER I WRITE A CHAPTER. THE SONG FOR THIS CHAPTER WAS MOLLY'S LIPS by NIRVANA ENJOYYYYY
It was decided between Diya and Devin that I was to meet up with him every Sunday from 9 till 2, so that he could tutor me. My Father arrived an hour later and Devin had to escape through my window. I discussed with my Father the idea of going to church, and much to my surprise, he not only allowed it, but seemed pretty enthusiastic to let me go. I could’ve gone the next day, but I had decided my weekend had already been traumatic enough, and seeing Devin again would only add to my stress.
Monday was a bit of a weird day. Avril demanded to know all the details of me and Ryder’s supposed ‘sexy-time’ and I was getting death glares from Ryder and his gang of goons. I gave Avril the concise version of what happened, not leaving out the part where I went home with Devin. When Avril heard that she almost dropped all her books and had a heart attack in the middle of the corridors.
“You went home with him.” She gasped.
“Yes, I did.”
“He beat up Ryder?” She gasped even louder.
“Yes, he did.” I muttered.
“Oh my god! Devin likes you, he totally likes you!” Avril exclaimed.
“Av, calm your tits. You think every guy that so much as gives me a lingering glance, likes me.” I stated giving her a flat look, “Besides, Devin has a girlfriend remember? And his girlfriend is my sister.”
“You sound like you’re trying to remind yourself that, rather than me.” She smirked.
“Oh whatever,” Just at that moment the bell rang and Devin and Diya appeared, holding hands. Devin awkwardly clutched her hand while she was grasping onto him tightly. “Geez, look there’s the happy couple.” I muttered under my breath.
“You don’t look too happy to see them.” Avril retorted, amusedly.
“I am happy; really fucking happy.” I grumbled, enunciating each word. “I’m going to class. See ya Av.”
“Bye.” She cooed as I walked down the halls. I brushed past Devin, and my sister shouted a short greeting, but I pretended I didn’t hear her and stumbled away.
After school I had practise, and man, was I happy to be practising spiking. I imagined each ball was Devin’s head as I brought my arm down, and bashed the ball over the net. Each landed with a resounding slam as it hit the gym floor and coach was pretty impressed.
“I don’t know what’s got you so mad, Jhadav, but I like it. You’ve got some extra fire in your game today. Keep it up.” He commented before joining some freshman on the other side of the gym.
The whole day Ryder had been giving me the cold shoulder, much to my relief, and it was clear the entire school knew about our breakup. Apparently he had gone around and told everyone that he broke up with me because I was too much of a prude. I didn’t care much for what other people thought of me so I had no worries.
I still had my spot with the popular kids, but I didn’t sit near him anymore. I remember at lunch when he came in with a big blue bruise on his cheek, and a busted lip. Everyone was stunned into silence but he laughed it off and said he got into a fight and kicked some gangster’s ass. Everyone pretty much praised him after that. Av and I had a good laugh because we knew the truth about him being beaten to a pile of shit by Devin.
Ahhhh, Devin. He no longer went through lunch by himself. He was forced to deal with Diya and her army of skanks (I meant that in the nicest way possible). Each of Diya’s friends had their own pimp, and spent most of lunch break having sex with their clothes on in the cafeteria. It was quite the sight to watch.
