Description: Two girls. One lives in an Utopian society but wishes to be in a Dystopian society. The other lives in a Dystopian society but wishes to be in an Utopian society. It sounds like a classic tale of be happy with what you have, right? Wrong. When the two societies enlist the girls to fight a battle in the war, they meet. And they switch lives. Pretending they were changed by the battle they live out happily, forgetting each other. Until they meet again...
Join these girls in the tale of switching lives, war, and Utopia vs. Dystopia.Jennifer's P.O.V.:
Princesses and fairy tales and perfect lives. They have never been my thing. But they are my life. I live in Asolgrandia. The Utopia of the continent Narcissca. My life is perfect, I get everything I want, there is no hardcore or work. And I hate it. I wish I had been born in Dariwater. It's the Dystopia of Narcissca. The topias have been at war, and neither side has won for the last fifteen years. I am thirteen years old. And today is Draft Day. Each year, in order to have enough soldiers, everyone thirteen and up is required to have their name in the bowl for drafting. Then, they pick twenty names and those people have to serve. The draft is almost like the Hunger Games. My red hair is up in a bun, and my dress is the color of my dull, gray eyes. It's bland. I insisted on it. I want to get picked and try to escape to Dariwater, but I don't want to get picked. I don't want to risk my life for a war that I find stupid and intolerable. My servant calls out to me. "Princess Jennifer! Time to leave for the draft!" I roll my eyes. Everyone in Asolgrandia is royalty because everyone is rich. And everyone has servants. I slip on my heels and walk to the door, where I meet my mom, Anna, and my dad, John. We leave for the draft.
"Hello, and welcome to the draft. Let's jump right in!" The announcer says. She reaches in and pulls twenty names out of the bowl. "This years new recruits are: Sandra M., Dan S., Carl V., Dtep C., Werner F., Fred G., Julie U., Opal T., Veri D., Berlin Y., Ane P., Qual Q., Swer H., Meri H., Elizabeth I., Fatima C., Garret X., Pat V., Zach Z., and Jennifer B." Well, that's that. I get up along with the other people who's names were called and we walk to the stage. "Your new recruits." I wave. My last goodbye.
Mariska's P.O.V.:
Adventure and danger and hard lives. They have never been my thing. But they are my life. I live in Dariwater. The Dystopia of the continent Narcissca. My life is miserable, I get nothing I want, there is no leisure time or fun. And I hate it. I wish I had been born in Asolgrandia. It's the Utopia of Narcissca. My brown hair is in a braid, and my dress is the color of my icy, green eyes. It's fancy. I insisted on it. I want to get picked and try to escape to Asolgrandia, but I don't want to get picked. I don't want to risk my life for a war that I find stupid and intolerable. My sibling calls out to me. "Hey ugly Mariska! Time to leave for the draft!" I roll my eyes. Everyone in Dariwater is crowded together because everyone is poor. And everyone has siblings. I slip on my flats and walk to the door, where I meet my mom, Zana, and my dad, Carl. We leave for the draft.
"Hello, and welcome to the draft. Let's jump right in!" The announcer says. She reaches in and pulls twenty names out of the bowl. "This years new recruits are: Stephen G., Steven B., Uransa L., Dati X., Rax F., Sonia L., Pom Q., Francis Y., Katy J., Abigail K., Bri M., Will S., Feen I., Tom P., Seth Y., Vivi H., Dwen J., Qai J., Nan V., and Mariska F." Well, that's that. I get up along with the other people who's names were called and we walk to the stage. "Your new recruits." I wave. My last goodbye.
