Francesca's pov

"and you're coming to the beach tonight?" bobby asked me. i have known bobby years, my mum is a cleaner for bobby's parents in their mansion in encino, and my dad worked at his dojo for a while, even before bobby and the lads joined the dojo.

"nah.." i trail off watching my mum clean his kitchen.
he laughed sitting beside me "oh come on frankie!" he pleaded using my nickname that he gave me when we was 5 years old.

"i'm having pizza tonight though." i groan "i don't wanna be out when i could be at home stuffing my face with pizza." i told him making him raise a brow at me "don't you think you eat enough pizza?"

"is that a fat joke?" i asked with a serious voice. he chuckled shaking his head "you know it's not.. i just mean.. you are of italian decent and you're always eating pizza."
"that's because it tastes good." i grin and pick at the skin around my nails "you know... i could get you some pizza later? we can go to the beach then i can take you to that nice italian restraunt you like with the good pizzas" he got up and grabbed two glasses and poured us out some orange juice

"i don't know..." i trailed off "i don't really know your friends."

at school i sit by myself most of the time, i sometimes sit with Annie, a girl in my science class but if i sit with her too much i feel like i'm annoying her so i mainly just sit in the canteen on my own, or sometimes if it's a nice day i'll sit out on the grass.

"you do know them..." he made a face handing me the orange juice "no i just mean... i don't know them like i know you. they seem... like pricks." i sipped my juice. he giggled and nodded "yeah... they can be. jimmy is really nice, you'd like jimmy. tommy can be okay too, sometimes." bobby then sipped on his juice.
"and well... as you know, johnny and dutch are probably the biggest dicks of the group."

"thanks for slagging me off." i heard a familiar voice behind me in the doorway to the kitchen. oh my god? bobby laughed looking behind me.
"sorry johnny... it's true though." bobby straightened up against the kitchen counter.

"i um- better go..." i trail off standing from the table.
"are you coming to the beach tonight?" bobby asked me again making me look at him and sigh "why do you want me there?"

"because you've barely been out all summer!" he exclaimed looking at me, johnny was still stood in the doorway watching bobby and i.
"who am i supposed to go out with, bobby?!" i laughed making a face as i backed up "i aren't popular like you... i don't live in encino. i live in reseda for crying out loud."
i ended up bumping into johnny as i walked backwards.
i didn't even apologise, i just left his house and got on my bike and biked home.

when i got home i had to try and carry my bike up the apartment complex stairs. i grunt out and sigh, i'm knackered, i looked up when i heard a chuckle "you need help?" i was asked by a young lad i've never seen before.
"umm... please." i smiled at him he jogged down a few stairs then grabbed my bike and helped me.

"are you the new people in apartment 20?" i asked him.
"yeah... i'm daniel" he put my bike down when we reached the top of the stairs "daniel larusso." he held his hand out for me to shake. i grabbed it and shook it shyly "nice to meet you, i'm Francesca Benatti. but you can call me frankie, most people do."
he smiled at me and nodded "pretty name... italian decent?" he gave me a knowing look. i smiled proudly "that's right."

"same here!" he grinned making me giggle

"what apartment are you in?" he asked me. "19" i smiled and nodded to the door beside his making him chuckle
"hey... there's a party at the beach later on, i don't know if you've been invited, but it'd be cool if you could come." he smiled.
shit. i sighed.
"umm, i was asked, yeah." i smiled softly tucking a piece of hair behind my ear "but i was just thinking of staying home and having pizza." i shrugged shyly.

he chuckled and nodded "that's understandable. well if you change your mind let me know."

i smiled and nodded "yeah i will. thank you!"

LATER ON: 9pm.

i didn't end up going to the beach today. i just wanted to be at home, tomorrow was the start of school. tomorrow i will be a senior which is scary, i leave school and start my life properly.
i stare at the kitchen cabinet as i wait for my hot chocolate.
i was knocked out of my gaze when i heard someone knocking on my door loudly. i made a face and watched my mum get up from the sofa and open the door.

"um hello?" she said. i continued staring at the kitchen cabinet.
"hi, ma'am. i'm daniel larusso from apartment 20. my ma and i just moved here, is frankie in??" i heard daniel painfully ask. i stepped into view and gasped. he was bruised up and bloody.
"daniel??!" i said in shock walking over to him and pulling him in the apartment
"what the hell happened?" i asked him wetting a towel and dabbing it on his would. he whimpered and hissed "i'm sorry." i apologised

"this guy at the beach... king karate." he mumbled "he really did me in." he coughed in pain, i gave him my hot chocolate instead and rubbed his back.
"my ma is going to go crazy." he sighed shaking his head
"you can stay here for tonight... right ma?" i turned to my mother and she smiled "yes! of course. you are free to have a shower too." my mother smiled warmly at daniel
"thank you ma'am." he nodded at my mum

"oh it's ok.. you can call me sofia." she rubbed his back softly
"thank you, sofia" daniel smiled charmingly making me roll my eyes playfully.

"so... what did this boy look like? do you remember?" my mum asked daniel.
daniel sighed holding the towel to his head "there was a group of them. 5.. maybe 6. i wasn't counting. they all drove on the beach with their motorcycles." he said. my eyes widened as i looked up to my mum. she was thinking what i was.

"i think he was the main one, he was tall and blonde, with a red jacket on.. he had a snake on his red leather jacket" he shrugged "king karate kicked the hell out of me." he groaned

i shook my head "bobby." i growled

"bobby wouldn't do that..." my mum spoke up then turned to daniel, before she could speak i said "no... but his group would."
"how blonde was this kid?" she asked
"really blonde. like really really blonde." daniel explained

"johnny." my ma and i said at the same time.

"you know king karate?" daniel's eyes went wide. i made a face and shrugged "my friend bobby.. who i've known since being 5 has a friend called johnny. they all do karate together, it's how they all met. johnny, who did this to you, is a karate champion.. he's won a few times.. he's a black belt."

"yeah.. i guessed." daniel laughed "it's not just his belt that's black.. that'll be my eye too, in the morning." he touched his eye making me pull his hand away.

"johnny is the leader of the group... he's the biggest bully in school." i told daniel "try and stay away." i said softly

"he isn't that bad... he's had a hard life growing up, he's a good kid deep down. but, like frankie said, he is sort of a bully.. stay away from him as much as you can, he has a bad temper and obviously has it in for you already on your first day here. don't let his pretty boy title fool you, he's got a hard hit... he does have a good heart deep down, though." my mum said as she got up to make a drink.
i shrugged at daniel making a face.

johnny really was a pretty boy. blonde hair, blue eyes, could be incredibly sweet, the school's most popular boy and bad boy who rode motorcycles, had his own car, was insanely rich and lived up in the hills. all the girls wanted him. so did i. but he was a pretty boy with bad habits; bad bullying habits.
