"Not my watch" (y/n) placed her hand over her wrist covering the watch. Hailee looked down at it once more. It was a white plastic watch, maybe a g-shock.

"Why?" Hailee asked pointing down at (y/n) wrist. "You begrudge giving it?" Hailee continued, but (y/n) didn't say anything. "That makes it even better" Hailee quickly got (y/n) wrist and unbuckled the straps. (Y/n) was about to reach to get it back but Hailee moved her hand away.

"Hailee, seriously give it back" (y/n) pleaded trying once more to reach for the watch.

"Though it is out of fashion, but I still can use it to see the time." Hailee placed the white watch on her wrist, maintaining eye contact with (y/n). "After you pay me back all the money you can take it back" Hailee smiled, moving past (y/n) and walking away, though she didn't get far when (y/n) called out to her. "What's wrong" Hailee sighed turning around.

"Please, be careful with it. And you can't damage it." (Y/n) said timidly.

"Oh? For the one who just damaged my watch, how dare you say that?" Hailee laughed.

"Please" (y/n) whispered, looking down at the watch now on Hailee's wrist. "Please don't damage it. This watch is very important to me" (y/n) added hoping Hailee had a heart somewhere.

"Okay, I'll try my best" Hailee nodded.

"Also, I'll keep in mind everything you just said at the restaurant."

"What did I say?" Hailee asked walked towards the younger girl.

"It's okay for you to say that I'm incapable. But I want to tell you that I'll prove my worth to you. I will make music better than you Hailee Steinfeld." (Y/n) gave one last look at Hailee before turning away.

Hailee watched as (y/n) walked down the quiet sidewalk, until her figure was no longer visible.

This girl is really dense. I'll tell her the reason why Taylor won't do collaboration in another way.

".... Damn it"

It was 5:30 in the morning. The weather was fair, but the room was dark. Hailee was still laying on her bed looking up at the ceiling. Her Calabasas home was quiet, and in some way lonely.

"I give up. This is useless" Hailee sighed sitting upright. Resigning herself to her annoyance, Hailee vigorously rubbed the tiredness from her eyes. But it wasn't her lack of sleep she was annoyed at.

She got out of bed and walked towards her closet. She went to the farthest corner of the room, sliding a few pieces of clothing that were hanging on hangers off to the side. There she saw her hidden door, she opened it and pulled out her wooden box.

Opening it, she looked at all the things she had stored and kept hidden. She took out a picture that had been torn slightly on the upper left corner and a bit faded. Still Hailee was able to see two little girls hugging as they smiled at the camera. Both showing off their really cool friendship bracelets.

"It's not like she'll actually remember me as the girl I was back then. As I am now, I don't want her to see what I have become. But I do hope, I can change that." Hailee said. "That's probably wishful thinking" she let out a defeating sigh.

Hailee bit her bottom lip frustration, putting the pictures back into the box and into its hiding place.

Later that same day Hailee found herself walking the path to (y/n)s studio. She had been on autopilot for so long, she'd forgotten what it was like to take an actual risk. More importantly, she'd forgotten how fucking awful it was to have that risk fail. Since Hailee's career took off everything had been handed to her. So seeing (y/n) try and fail, genuinely hurt her.
