Part 17

3 months later…

“Joshua can you go and change Heaven while I go get ready?”

“Yeah.”

Joshua and Alexandria were going to his grandparent’s house for dinner. It was a last minute invitation, but they decided to go.

Even though they were supposed to come a couple of days after the baby was born, they couldn’t because Joshua’s grandfather ended up in the hospital because of heart problems.

Since he was much better know, both grandparents wanted to see the baby.

After taking a quick 10 minute shower, she put lotion on her body, put her hair in a quick bun, and put some eyeliner, bronzer, and mascara on.

Joshua got ready earlier so she could get ready when she was done getting the baby ready.

When they got there, there were all these cars there and they looked at each other with a confused look on their face.

“Joshua did they tell you more people were going to be here?”

“Um no, but maybe they have their friends over.”

Alexandria got the baby out and grabbed her bag.

“Do you have her?”

“Yeah.”

The door was unlocked so they just walked in and saw people they never thought they would see again.

Joshua’s family.

“Grandma why are they here?”

“They came unexpectedly. I didn’t know they were going to be here.”

“Oh well mom, dad just so you know Alexandria is my wife now and the mother of my child. So if you disrespect her then there is no going back from that.”

“Joshua. Calm down.”

Alexandria put her free hand on his shoulder and he turned around.

The baby started fussing so that meant that she was either hungry or had to be changed.

Joshua followed Alexandria to the bathroom and started breathing irrationaly.

“Joshua calm down. Maybe them being here is a good thing and they have good intentions.”

“I doubt that. They never have good intentions when it comes to me. Remember?”

“Yes, but maybe they see that you do love me and they can’t change your mind.”

Joshua saw where she was coming from, but didn’t think that it was true.

His family never liked the women he dated because they were always black. If they wanted to apologize, he was not going to accept it.

Once heaven was done and Alexandria burped her, they went back out and the food was ready. So she was holding the baby while eating.

Of course in the middle of eating she had to change the baby.

After eating, Joshua was pulled aside by his father outside.

“So how is being a father?”

“Fine.”

“That’s all I get from my son.”

“Well after not talking for a long time, you should be lucky you are even being spoken to.”

“Well son, I’m sorry for how I acted.”

“I don’t know why you guys are evenher. There is no way in hell I’m forgiving you neither is Alex.”

He started to walk away, but Alexandria walked out the door and looked at him.

“Alex? Is everything okay?”

“Yes, but you need to turn back around and talk to him.”

“But-“

“What did I just say? Joshua obviously your family wants to have your forgivness and you need to give them that.”

“Do you not remember what they did and said to you when we were kids and when they met you in the beginning?”

“Yes, but they want to be nice now. Heaven wants you to forgive.”

She started doing a baby voice.

“Daddy please forgive him. He loves you, don’t you want me to be happy?”

“Alex I’m not responding to that.”

“Do it.”

“Yes, of course.”

“Then please forgive him.”

She put the baby up to his cheek and made a mwauh sound.

“Fine, but if it doesn’t work-“

“Then you can say Alex you were wrong.”

He stayed and looked at his dad for a couple of minutes until he finally spoke.

“You guys not only hurt me, but you hurt the chance of being at my wedding and the birth of my first child.”

“I know Josh and me and your mother and the rest of the family are sorry.”

He wondered if this apology was real. They did it before and that hurt him deeply, but he let it go. He wasn’t sure if he could risk the chance of forgiving them and it hurt his family, but this was for Alex so he forgave him.

“I forgive you guys.”

He walked off.

His dad was happy because he missed his son.

After telling everybody else, his dad talked to Joshua the whole time.

But what Joshua and Alexandria didn’t know was that they were never going to like Alexandria, they agreed to tolerate her, but never like her.

Joshua noticed that he and his grandparents were the only ones talking to Alexandria and he found this very strange. If his family forgave her, they should at least be talking to her.

So he sat everybody down and decided to address the issue.

“I just wanted to know why you guys aren’t talking to Alex or even paying attention to our baby.”

“Son we said we are sorry, but we will never accept that trash in our family.”

Joshua knew they would do something like this.

All Alexandria did was gather her and Joshua’s plates that his grandparents made for them and their bags and walk out the door.

She put the baby in her carseat and waited in the car for Joshua.

“Why would you guys say something like that in front of her?”

“Because we could give two shits about her,” His mom finally said something about with a smug look on her face.

He said goodbye to his grandparents and left.

While they were driving, he notice that Alexandria was crying so he pulled over and hugged her.

“How could they be so mean?”

“I know baby. They don’t know how good of a person you are.”

She just cried and cried until she couldn’t cry anymore.

After crying herself to sleep, Joshua started driving off.

He couldn’t believe he fell for that.

He should have known that they weren’t really serious.

Joshua had to talk to his family before things got out hand.
