"You may now kiss the bride""It's about time!" I yelled as James pulled me close to him and dipped me to kiss. The crowd was cheering, though everyone else was drowning out in the background. James and I walked down the isle together to get ready for the reception.
"Holy sh*t, you're my wife," James smiled, squeezing my hand slightly as we walked.
"Finally!" I joked dramatically.
"Shelly, you said you were okay waiting a year after I proposed" James laughed.
"I'm just joking, silly!"
James smiled and pulled me into a hug before we separated to change into our reception outfits. It's crazy. It felt like just yesterday James and I were at the county fair, wasting a whole bunch of money on rigged games, holding hands on the Ferris wheel.
"Hey, gorgeous" James said as I stepped back into the room in a different dress, "remember that one time, when we chaperoned at that middle school dance?"
I smiled at the memory, "yeah. They were all making fun of couples so we showed them all up on the dance floor and it was like we were celebrities or something"
There was a comfortable silence as James wrapped his arms around me from behind, "I can't wait to make more memories. With you. Together."
"Let's go show people up on the dance floor again"
James and I made our ways to the reception hall. We gave the signal and the DJ grabbed the microphone.
"LET'S GIVE IT UP FOR THE NEWLYWEDS"
"THATS US B*TCHES" I yelled running in with James. Everyone clapped and laughed as we ran to our corner by the cake. The food was being served, everything was perfect.
"I remember the first few dates, you barely ate anything in front of me," James laughed, looking at my huge plate in front of me.
"I'm a growin' girl now"
"Fair enough"
Everyone ate and some congratulated us but soon enough it was time James was standing from his seat, tapping his glass of champagne with his fork.
"I just wanted to thank everyone for coming to celebrate with Shelly and I, it means a lot to us both. Shelly is... well she's my wife and I'm still in shock. Ever since I first met you 6 years ago, I knew I wanted to marry you. I'll love you forever. I'm not going to get too sappy, we all heard my vows. And since then you've all seen my cry at the sight of my beautiful wife. But I wanted everyone to know that... WE'RE MARRIED, BABY!"
Everyone laughed at the end and James sat back down in his seat next to me, "Till death do us part" he whispered. He kissed me on the cheek and decided it was time to cut the cake.
We cut a slice together and both immediately started shoving it in each other's faces. It was delicious, I cannot lie. My eyeballs on the other hand didn't think so as much. James slipped on some of the fallen cake, and nearly toppled over the rest of the cake with him. Thankfully, or maybe not, he pulled me down with him rather than the table. We laughed and I kissed his nose which still had some cake on it.
Soon enough it was time for me to toss my bouquet, I threw it and turned around to see my maid of honor and best friend, Ashly holding it and jumping up and down celebrating.
"IM NEXT IM NEXT IM NEXT" she chanted. I laughed at her as she came up and high fived me, "I totally didn't fight some middle aged lady for this"As she said this the DJ announced it was time for our first dance. James was soon beside me, holding out his hand, "May I have this dance?"
I giggled and nodded, taking his hand. Everyone except us cleared the floor, and "Can you feel the love tonight" from the Lion King began to play. We swayed back and forth together.
