Parker's POV

"Your projects are due Wednesday. I expect you to have finished reading the book by now, yes?"

Mrs. Eaton's words go in one ear and out the other.

Of course I'm not paying attention. I never do.

Today, like many others, I have a song stuck in my head. I'm quietly tapping my pencil and gently nodding my head.

And isn't this exactly where you like me, I'm exactly where you like me you know, my thoughts sing.

It's Panic! at the Disco. "But It's Better If You Do."

I know I'll have another song stuck in my head by lunch. But until then, I will be thinking about nothing other than Brendon Urie's beautiful vibrato vocals.

Mrs. Eaton talks more about our projects, how we need to explain the theme and determine the turning point, shit like that.

I look around the classroom, my pencil still drumming. I notice Phoenix Richards is not here.

I wonder where he is.

The sound of the bell cuts through my busy thoughts. 12:15.

Lunch time in the cafe.
