~(I know I have requests to do but I came up with this idea the other day and like couldn't NOT write it. Anyways this is an AU where...ya know what I'll let you find out. Mwhahahahah. But I must warn you it is a tad bit angsty. I will probably write a part two to this but I don't know if I'll do it right away. Anyways leave constructive criticism and/or requests and I hope you enjoy!)~

Alex slid the door of the classroom open and an immediate silence befell the class. It wasn't the type of silence where one would be able to hear a pin, it was just quiet enough to hear all the murmurs and whispers going about but not loud enough to cover the sound of his footsteps echoing off the floor as he drudged to his seat.

"That's him, right?"

"You heard about what happened right?"

"With Ben?"

"Yeah I heard he totally went berserk."

Ignoring the incessant rumors, Alex sat down in his chair not bothering to look to his left. He didn't because he knew that if he did all he would feel is pain and anger. The seat that Ben, his best friend from before he could remember, was currently unoccupied. Ben hardly came to school anymore. Alex assumed it was because he was too busy stabbing other people in the back.

About a month ago he caught a couple of students talking about Ben calling him a traitor or some shit. Alex confronted him and he kept saying there was stuff all over the Shuttle Patch about Ben joining the Union. As if that would ever be true. The little punk kept insisting that it was true and Alex eventually snapped and beat him up. Sure, it wasn't what he would normally do but he wasn't in the mood for lying twerps who think they're funny. He tried to shake off what they had said but it nagged at the back of his mind like a dog barking in the distance.

However throughout that day the distance barking of the dog slowly grew louder. Ben had avoided talking to Alex which was nearly impossible seeing as the had the same class and all. During lunch he confronted him about it but all Ben had said was to meet him at the rooftop and to bring everyone. At that point Alex knew something was wrong. Bark, bark, bark. He refused to let that noisy dog cloud his better judgment. After all Ben would never turn his backs on his friends like that...right?

When everyone had arrived at the rooftop the atmosphere was very light and joyous which further annoyed Alex. He felt as if he shouldn't be the only one worried. The others were being too care-free. But then again what reason did they have to be worried? None. None at all. Bark, bark, bark. No. There was nothing to be worried about. But of course he had been wrong.

"I'm cutting ties with you all," he had said. Everyone stood there shocked. Now all Gogo could hear was the endless dog barking; the endless echoes of Ben being a traitor of him joining the Union. The breath was immediately sucked out of him as if he had been sucked punched. Ben went on the explain how he had, indeed joined the Union and would rather just cut ties with all of them fast and quickly (Ben was never one to sugarcoat) but Alex couldn't hear the rest of his words. It all just seemed like a dark blur to him now. There was only one thing he could remember clearly.

Alex had stood in front of the door to the rooftop, blocking Ben's way out. The scene was very reminiscent to when Alex had stood before Donald Na defending Ben. But now he stood in front of Ben defending nothing but his denial. "Ben...it's just some sort of sick joke right? You know this i-isn't funny right?" Alex looked desperately at his best friend, voice breaking. Please, Ben, let me be right. Show me that bright smile of yours. Ben, please.

"Alex," Ben looked to meet his eyes and that's when he saw it: indifference. Not hatred nor any sort of affection, no, Ben looked upon Alex with indifference. Alex Go was no longer worth Ben's time. Ben was no longer going to give him a second thought, or any sort of thought for that matter. No, he saw nothing in him. "Get out of my way."
