POV Jocke
I wake up and open my eyes and to my surprise I'm exactly where my vision ended. I get up and look around when I notice the compass lying on the ground. I stand up and hold the compass to look for the north. It heads in the opposite direction from the cliff, into a forest. I've seen it on maps in the castle before. Behind the forest lie vast plains, a territory with no ruler and a few independent towns and cities. The people have gained hatred towards the king, and distanced themselves from the kingdom that lies behind me. Fortunately the news of me, the crown prince, fleeing from the kingdom won't spread fast in these areas so I just have to make it into the plains before the king's men find me.
POV King Brodén
Once Jocke is out of sight I quickly return to the castle and signal the guards. Not long after the horns are sound and the twelve king's men join me as we ride out in the same direction as Jocke. We ride until we reach the cliff, at the bottom of the cliff Jocke left a visible track leading into the forest. The king's men split up into two groups and both head in opposite directions with one of the groups led by the king himself, following the edge of the cliff until they find a passage to bring the horses down the cliff.
Me and my six men reach a passage leading to a village in the forest, on the outskirts of the kingdom. As I pass through the village the peasants look shocked to see me this far from my keep, while I gallop with pride ignoring the lowly people of the village until we reach the edge of the kingdom where we enter the plains. We slow down, looking around to see if we can spot Jocke. But all we see is a village in the distance and my six other men entering the plains from a path through the forest. I know I have no power in these plains, so my twelve men spread out to look for Jocke as I return to my keep.
POV Jocke
I reached the edge of the forest and see the king's men spread out into the plains, but all head away from the forest as if they expected me to be way further. I start to wonder how long I was unconscious but quickly regain focus on more important matters. As the king's men stray further away from me I leave the forest and try to move quickly but stealthy. On a quarter of my way from the plains edge to the nearest town I suddenly hear the footsteps from a horse nearing me at fast pace. Before I can react a mysterious rider grabs me and places me in front of him, partly hiding me in his cloak. Without any actual stealth but with a high speed we travel to the village, once we enter we slow down and gently walks through the village until it stops at a simple house in the middle of the village. Still not sure whether I'm actually safe I decide to stay silent until I get to see the mysterious rider. As we dismount the horse he heads straight for the house and enters, leaving the door open for me to follow him inside the dark room.
