Chapter 11: Will You Eat With Me?

The next day while Lee Hi is on her way to work, a random man approached her. "Hi!" The man greeted her chirpily. "Would you mind taking this? I have lots of lotto ticket and I want to share it with everyone." Then the man showed her a plastic of lotto tickets.

At first she's hesitating but the man shove her the ticket politely again, without a choice she took it. The man give her a huge smile, bowed his head which she did the same. "Thank you for accepting the ticket." She slightly bowed her head again to signify that she heard him. The man walked away, she followed him by gaze and she saw that the man approached another person he sees on the road. After looking at the man giving lotto tickets, she shrugged her shoulder and continue to walk again.

As usual Lee Hi started her day with a smile on her face. She starts working just like how she used to. The operation of her mother is fast approaching. She only have exactly eleven days to save money, just for her mother to get operated.

So far so good for her. Lita and Marie didn't bother her anymore the reason for her to be more inspired to work. Though she can still see the daggers in their looks, she just ignored them. After work she visited her mother again, but only she didn't stay for long. She needed to go home per her mother's request.

She's already walking on the hallway of the hospital when Doctor Nam approached her. There's a huge grin on his lips and his gaze has a smug on it. "Miss Lee, I didn't know you'd still be here."

"I visited my mother." She answered, her head was low and there's a restrain in her voice. She also keep a few feet distance from him.

"I just want to remind you that you only have eleven days for your mother's operation. Have you saved enough money?"

She balled her fist. Her teeth were clenched tightly. She pursed her lips and remain her head low. Why a man like him ever existed? How can he call himself a doctor?

"I have to go now." She said after a while and walk away. She didn't bother to look back when he spoke again.

"Remember my proposal."

She ignored him and continue to walk away, far away from him. Exhaustion filled her body when she got home. Her strength was drain from a full day of work. She let her body rest on the couch. She's about to take a nap when the man from earlier suddenly popped up in her head. "Make sure to watch the draw later in the evening, they'll announce the winner there. Who knows you might be it."

She timidly got up from the couch find the remote and turn on the tv. Though she's not really expecting of winning..she's just curios who will be the winner. Just right in time the program is announcing now the chosen numbers in the draw.

"The first number, 7, the second number is 19, the third is 22, fourth is—" Until she can't focus anymore. 'These number seems familiar.' Her eyes grew huge then get her lotto ticket inside her bag. She repeatedly look at the tv and on the ticket on her hand. Her heart is thumping loud and full of anticipation. She doesn't know what to feel anymore. Her exhausted body became alive in just a snap of a finger.

"I won?" Still in disbelief she uttered as though it still wasn't processed by her brain. She didn't know what the man said from earlier will actually come true. Suddenly, her brown eyes were filled with tears. Tears of joy. All she could think of is her mother's operation, but it only lasted for a few seconds since the man from earlier pooped up in her head again. "But this isn't mine. I should find the man who gave me this. He's the one who technically won." She said to herself not being greedy. She just told to Kim Hanbin before that having too much with everything is bad. The only money she needed is for her mother's operation...the rest is too much for the both of them. That's half a billion dollars we are talking about.
