Saturday was here and Lucian didn't want to go. His dad was working or something so..he wouldn't notice. Jonah picked him up and dragged him to the party. Jonah ditched him in seconds for a girl. Typical. Lucian wandered to the alcohol and downed something in a glass. This was what he needed. Alcohol. It was always a good choice.
He drank and danced with girls. He did everything expected of him because he was popular. He had to. It was his job as the most popular jock in school, except Gabe. He was about equal. The school seemed split in a weird unspoken way. It was either Lucian's people or Gabe's people. Gabe protected a lot of nerds. Lucian actually respected that in Gabe. Envied maybe. He sighed.
Lucian was drinking and dancing with almost naked girls and the only thing on his mind was Gabe. At least he wasn't wondering how big his dick was ...shit! Now he was! He had to stop this madness. More alcohol should do it. Alcohol never failed anyone...right?
Gabe didn't want to go to this ridiculous party. A bunch of drunk kids rubbing on each other ...okay, that part didn't sound half bad but...no. Not with just anyone. But his best friend was going. Keeley never missed a party.
Gabe had no idea how they were friends. She was the captain of the volleyball team and killer in cross country and track. She partied hard.
"Gabe, we are going to be late and I will miss the beer pong!" Keeley smiled. "Get that hot ass in the car."
Gabe sighed. "I am driving separately!"
"Fine. But if you don't show up, you will pay!" Keeley glared.
"Okay, Like I want an angry black woman hunting me down!" Gabe laughed. "I'm coming." He rushed down the stairs.
Keeley gasped. "Holy shit, Gabe! How are you single!" She pretended to faint.
Gabe glared. "Come on."
Keeley smiled. "You know that I have a huge crush on you!"
"I know. Keep that to yourself." Gabe smiled. "Come on. You can be my girlfriend, who would care?"
"Oh, I think Lucian Nichols would care. I saw him staring at you...like all year!" Keeley smiled and winked at him.
Gabe gasped. "Get in the car!"
Keeley laughed and got into her car as Gabe followed in his. He learned to ride separately after the first party he went to with her. She got drunk and left with some college guy. He was stuck at the house and had to call his dad...who was not happy at three am. Not at all. Gabe learned.
Gabe lost Keeley the second they arrived. Typical. Gabe greeted some people and walked to the kitchen. He made a mixed drink...he hated beer. Mostly, he loved rum and coke. He was only having one though because he was leaving in a couple of hours. Sooner...maybe.
A girl, Sonja Connors, stumbled in. Sloppy drunk. "Oh, Gabe!" She laid her arm over his shoulder. She was on her tippy toes. "Did you know that you are hot and I would have sex with you on this floor, right here!" She looked down and tapped her toes.
Gabe chuckled. "You are drunk."
"I know!" Sonja just laughed. "So, sex?"
"I appreciate the offer but no. I think we should be friends." Gabe smiled.
"Oooh! That smile is to die for!" Sonja smiled and turned to the person that just entered. "Lucian! Don't you agree that Gabe's smile is to die for?" She wobbled.
Lucian was drunk and wobbling too. He laughed. "I have heard that!"
Gabe stared. Lucian never got drunk at these parties. He would have a drink for show and carry it around. Gabe did the same thing. Then he wondered how long he was staring at Lucian to know that. "Uh, Sonja...can you go sit on that couch and just stay there. Wait for me." He shoved her that way. Out of the room.
"Lucian, are you okay?" Gabe stared. Lucian was drunk at a party. He never drank.
"You know...I have ne-eever drank at one of theezzz fff-fucking parties!" Lucian inhaled. "I was missing out? Where is your girlfriend?" He walked to Gabe but stumbled into him. Close. Their bodies were touching. Lucian leaned in. "You are tall!"
Gabe stared and ignored everything right now. Lucian's body on his, his breath on his neck, the goosebumps on his body. "Keeley...she is getting drunk somewhere and not my girlfriend."
Lucian smiled. "Can I be honest?"
"Okay?
"Can I tell you a secret? But...can't tell anyone! Specially...Gabe!" Lucian slurred.
"Lucian? I'm Gabe?" Gabe wanted to laugh.
"Right! But shhhh!" Lucian put his finger to his lips. "Ready? I have had a secret crush on Gabe since he came back...actually before! When I picked on him before he was fuck me hot! I know there is no chance because well, I was a shit to him but...oh! Have you seen his body! Shit! He is so fucking hot!" Lucian chuckled. "You can't say anything though!"
Gabe almost fainted. Was he drunk? Nope. He barely touched his drink. Did Lucian just say that? Really? He had a crush?
Lucian chuckled at nothing. "You can't tell though because Gabe would crush me with those sexy arms! Itsa good way to die though! Mmm! Things I could do to that body! I would love to have very dirty sex with him!" He bounced into Gabe and looked at his face. "Gabe! When did you get here!"
Gabe laughed. "Lucian, why don't I find your ride home."
"I rode with...what'is name!" He laughed. "Uh...my friend. He's a whore!"
"Jonah. I know." Gabe chuckled. "You rode with Jonah? He won't leave. Come on. Let's get some air." He pulled Lucian out the door and into the yard. They sat on the porch swing. Everyone was in the backyard or upstairs doing bad things. Gabe shivered. "So, you like me?"
Lucian turned and looked shocked. "Who told?" He blushed.
Gabe laughed. "You did."
Lucian laughed. "Well, just keep that to yourself." He leaned into Gabe. "You could kill me with those arms." He leaned on Gabe's arm. "I miss her!" He was in tears.
Gabe didn't move at first but slowly put an arm around Lucian as he cried. "I know."
"How?" Lucian choked out his words.
Gabe just nodded. "I just do. Let me take you home, Lucian. Okay. Get you home safe?"
Lucian nodded. "How do you not hate me?"
"Come on." Gabe stood and pulled Lucian up. He ended up carrying him to the car. "Don't throw up in my car. Just tell me and we will stop. Kay?" He fastened Lucian in the car and closed the door gently.
"Kay." Lucian leaned on the window.
Lucian was silent on the way and Gabe pulled into the dark house. Lucian sighed. "I don't want to be here tonight. I hate it here!" He wiped a tear.
Gabe sighed. "Want to stay at my house?"
Lucian just nodded as his tears fell silently. Gabe backed out and drove two blocks to his house. They were almost neighbors and Gabe knew that because Lucian stole his book bag in seventh and they walked to Lucian's to get it back.
Gabe, by some miracle, got Lucian to his bed and removed his shoes.
