Lucian was nervously pacing in his room. His dad said dinner was casual but he had no idea where they were going. It was twenty til....he walked downstairs and his dad looked nervous.
"Dad?" Lucian watched his dad.
"Lucian. Ready?" Wade took a breath. "We might get there early but... come on. It's going to be fine."
Lucian stared at his dad. "Are you dying? Just tell me now because I don't want to wait longer!"
Wade laughed. "No! I'm not dying. Lucian. I'm sorry for scaring you. This isn't that life changing. No one is dying. I have things to talk to you about and ... come on." He thought about just spitting it out but changed his mind and walked out to the car.
Gabe was in the kitchen, pacing. He wished his siblings were here with him but... He didn't know how to be alone with his dad and this was weird.
They cooked for a couple hours and that helped. Gabe was happy about that but had no idea who they were cooking for. He wondered how Lucian was doing, the doorbell rang.
Kevin jumped out of his skin and rushed to the door as Gabe checked on dinner. He heard voices. He turned and Lucian was there. "Uh, hello?" He stared as his man.
Lucian met Gabe's confused look with his. "Hey."
"Dad! I didn't know they were going to be here! What's happening?" Gabe stared more.
Lucian sat at the counter. "Is that an apron?"
Gabe smiled. "It is." It was a cute apron, actually. It said 'All this and I can cook'. "I cooked for you?" He was so confused. His dad thought he didn't like Lucian. Gabe was keeping it that way.
Wade was out of the loop with his son and had no idea Gabe and Lucian knew each other at all. He didn't know they went to the same school even. "You know each other?"
Lucian chuckled. "We do." He smiled at Gabe, who turned to the stove and blushed. "We are rivals at school." Wade and Kevin looked at each other. They had oh, shit looks on their faces. Lucian turned to the men who were quiet. "What?"
"Nothing!" They both almost shouted.
Lucian liked to study people as he watched his dad. His dad was cute. He was short like Lucian but he had darker hair with streaks of gray in it. His skin was a darker tan and his dad had good muscle tone but not like Kevin, Gabe's dad. He was all muscle for an older man. Gabe was definitely his son. They had a lot of similarities. Dark curly hair and pretty blue eyes. Mmm. Gabe was so yummy. They were kissing soon.
So far, they haven't done anything... much, just kissing and a little grinding. They hadn't even touched each other or been naked together. They were taking this slow and he was fine with that but the attraction was strong. He still wasn't sure he was ready for sex with Gabe, that subject made him nervous.
Lucian and his dad were led to the dining room and the table was set with cloth napkins and nice china. There was wine already opened. Gabe walked in with the main dish and set it down and walked back to the kitchen. Lucian had to fight everything in him to stay in his chair and not follow Gabe.
Gabe's dad, Kevin, finally spoke as Gabe took his seat. "Thanks for coming tonight. We have things to talk about." Kevin cleared his throat.
"Dad? What's happening?" Gabe stared at his dad and Wade, who was jumpy. He looked at the table.
"Well, let's eat first." Kevin nodded and looked at Wade, who agreed silently.
Gabe sighed. They said a quick prayer of thanks and passed the food. Lucian moaned as he took a bite of his vegetable lasagna meal. This was vegetarian. How did Gabe know that Wade was a vegetarian? He was asking. "How did you know my dad was vegetarian?" He watched Gabe.
Gabe stared. "I didn't!" He looked at his dad. "Dad?"
"Well..." Kevin looked down at his plate.
Wade took a deep breath. "Kevin and I are dating." He blushed.
There were no words. Nothing. Gabe thought he misheard and Lucian's mouth hit the floor. This wasn't happening. No! No fucking way! What? What? Wait...what?
I love this book and I hope you are enjoying it! PS: I'm narcissistic and named a character in this after myself! Ha ha! Lucian, He's my fave!!! Ha ha ENJOY!!!
