the band sat in the recording studio, listening to brian play his guitar. roger sat with a cigarette in his mouth, casually passing it over to stella to have a drag. she wore her sunglasses, a thing she had learnt mainly from roger, who always wore sunglasses for some strange reason, but she too had picked up on the habit recently.
"what's next?" brian asked through the microphone, finishing off his guitar solo. stella stood up, and sat in the empty seat that was next to freddie. on the way to the seat, she turned to paul who was looking at freddie. but stella knew. stella knew what he had done the night before. and at some point she would get him for it.
"that was pretty damn good. brilliant. i love that," freddie smiled, forgetting to press the button, meaning he was only speaking to the people in the same room as him and not brian.
"press the button freddie," brian explained to him, everyone reached and pointed over to the hutton showing freddie where it was. but when he realised he tried playing it off with the classic, 'i know, i know'. stella smiled and rolled her eyes, laughing quietly to herself.
"it's good. you know, play it like you wrote it," stella spoke up, leaning closer to the microphone stand. brian furrowed his eyebrows pointing towards his guitar.
"well, i did. i wrote that part," he replied, joking around or not joking around who knew?
"she's taking the piss," freddie laughed, looking over to stella who was grinning. but as he looked over, he noticed paul staring at him. freddie still couldn't get over what had happened last night. he had wanted to tell stella but knew she would go bat shit crazy. but he'd already realised that she'd worked it out.
"okay. are you happy?"
"i think it's beautiful," freddie answered. his and stella's masterpiece was finally coming together. after a year or so of writing it, their work had started paying off.
stella looked at freddie; platonic love. the warmth and love they shared for each other was like no other. and nothing could tear them apart. in some minds, the pair were the perfect friendship, and in their minds they couldn't agree any more. the joy they got when they wrote an amazing lyric, that they'd both come up with was the best feeling they had.
as stella floated back out of her imagination, freddie spoke again, "oh, and then there's the operatic section," he said with a cheeky smile. brian rose his eyebrows, a shocked grin on his face.
"the operatic section?"
"i know, it sounds crazy. it might work, maybe not," freddie rambled. brian tried speaking over him to help him calm down. stella tapped freddie's back to help him calm down a small bit, he turned to her a grateful side smile in his face.
"i love it fred. i love it," brian grinned, pulling the mic on his guitar up to his face so he was much louder. the both of them chuckled.
"what have we got to lose?" freddie asked.
