A/N: Wow, I never thought I would reach 100 reads, let alone 7,027! Thank you all so much for reading, it's crazy how much positive feedback I've gotten. I did not see this coming. I'm really glad you guys like the story! Rachel's been gone for awhile, so I thought it was time to bring her back (: Hope you enjoy this chapter? There's a part where you may consider it weird, but you know. It's likely to happen so. And hopefully it's not as crap as I think it is. Vote, comment, fan :3 Yay. (: I know this is super short but I wanted to put up at least something.
Rachel's POV
Photography class was a bore. I didn't have any friends besides Marisa, but she was too busy flirting with Lucas. I would make friends, but all the girls were too busy drooling over Lucas.
'Am I the only normal one around here?' I thought to myself.
Sure, Lucas was attractive, I mean he was a Horton after all, but he was no where as near perfect as Jay was. I smiled to myself thinking about him. Males were a rare species here on Elite Island, and if the numbers were scarce, everyone would have to fight to get one. The survival of the fittest. Only the best of the best would be able to earn a brother.
And I, Rachel Kina Silverman, am confident that I AM the best of the best.
"Now, I'd like to get us started on the basics of exposing and developing film if you'd all pay attention," the teacher, Ms. Amber said quietly.
Of course barely anyone heard her, considering how they were all day dreaming about Lucas.
"Everyone, please," Ms. Amber said a little louder. Still no one heard. Besides me of course, but I wasn't going to be that student who shushes everyone with their finger.
"EVERYONE FOCUS." She had finally had enough and snapped. Everyone fell silent and no eyes were on Lucas.
"I WOULD LIKE TO GET STARTED ON THE BASICS OF EXPOSING AND DEVELOPING FILM SO IF EVERYONE WOULD FOLLOW ME TO THE DARK ROOM, PLEASE." We all nodded vigorously. I doubt anyone had imagined such a small lady to have such a huge voice.
"Um, Ms. Amber?" some girl raised her hand slowly.
"Yes dear?" Ms. Amber seemed to have calmed down a bit.
"Where exactly is the dark room? I mean we are in the middle of a garden..."
Ms. Amber laughed, obviously that was the stupidest question she had ever heard.
"Isn't it obvious?" she asked, still chuckling as she picked up a pebble and made it skip on the pond. We waited for an answer. It didn't come from her, but it came from the pond. Obviously the skips were some kind of code as the water in the pond split and a staircase appeared in the middle of the pond leading down somewhere.
"Oh," the girl said in a small voice as she peered down the pond. I rolled my eyes and followed Ms. Amber down the stairs as everyone seemed to be frozen on the spot.
"Let's go, baby," I heard Lucas say and gagged. They were already calling each other pet names?
"Mmm, I'm tired," Marisa said with a giggle.
"Oh babe, I know you aren't. Stop lying."
"I'm not lying, I'm just tired, I don't think I can walk down there."
"Fine, I'll carry you. Gosh, you're so lazy." I heard a small grunt and looked back to see 7 girls death glaring at Marisa and drilling their stares into the back of her head. I held back a laugh and continued down the stairs.
"Well, here we are girls! And boy," Ms. Amber said, gesturing to the room behind her. A couple of desks and cabinets, a sink and a ePod dock. In the back of the room was a revolving door that led to the actual dark room.
"I want you guys to get used to the dark room, so let's go!" she said, and disappeared behind the door. One by one, we disappeared into the dark room. The other side was full of light and we walked around, gazing at the dark room.
"I'm going to show you the real reason it's called the dark room," Ms. Amber said mysteriously and flicked the lights off.
Pitch black. A scream.
You can see absolutely nothing. Not even your own hands. I feel the person beside me move and before I know it someone is groping my ass.
"What the fuck, get away from me," I hiss so only they can hear and slap where I think their face is. I hear a grunt and the lights turn back on. An unexpected face has a red cheek from where I slapped him. Lucas Chase Horton. I glare at him. He knows why. Ms. Amber is busy explaining how the enlarger works and leads us over to one of the work stations. I stop him.
"What. The. Hell. Don't you have a girlfriend?" I ask, headnodding to Marisa who was completely focused.
"Well, I thought you had a pretty nice ass," he said with a wink.
I smirk and smooth my hand over his muscular chest, then up to his neck. He smiles and raises his eyebrows. I massage it a little, then grip it hard. He gasps and makes a choking noise.
"Don't you ever touch me again, and be loyal to the person you're leading on," I say and let him go.
No one messes with me, and no one hurts my friends. I turn and try to listen to what Ms. Amber is saying but I can't help but glance over at Marisa and Lucas. Should I tell her what happened? Should I tell her that she deserves better and Lucas is nothing but a huge douchey player?
I sigh. Maybe he'll change. I doubt it, but there's a possibility and I don't want to ruin it.
We're led out of the dark room and I catch Lucas trying to go in the revolving door with another girl.
...But then again, maybe not.
