Reunite

Chapter One

Yuzuki was heading back home after a good day's hunting. She was about to show her family the largest squirrel in the woods! But as soon as she headed into the clearing, something wasn't right. The usually bustling and welcome hollow was now quiet and.. slightly scary. Yuzuki looked around and scanned her surroundings. No mom, no siblings.. What has happened?

Yuzuki suddenly pricked her ears as the slightest thrash of leaves sounded. She sharply looked up and saw a tall, towering human with some sort of mask on its face. He didn't seem like he saw her yet. Yuzuki realized he was carrying a lump of purple fur. Her mother! She had to do something, before this human realizes that she was there!

The human said something she didn't understand, but it was a call that made every human hiding in their home leave. But what about her mother?! She couldn't just abandon her! But she couldn't stand up against those humans, they would just scoop her up and lock her up in a cage. It was already too late to decide. The humans were getting in their "vehicles" and were vrooming away with a horrible squealing noise.

Yuzuki realized she was getting a little bit tired, after all that had happened today. She took her squirrel and ate in the now empty dining room. She remembered her mother always nudging her to try a vole, but voles weren't really tasty for her. Now, she would have eaten anything her mother wanted her to try. And her siblings. Aqua, Pearl, and Prick. She missed them all, even if they were adopted. She missed Aqua the most. She was like an older sister to her. And her two tails were long and glamorous. Her half shaded fur. She was always the nicest to her. And her other two always picked on her, but she missed them as well. After an empty meal, she stepped into the bedroom, where her family all shared a room.

She climbed into her mother's bed and hunched up. Not even a heartbeat later, soothed by her mother's scent, she fell asleep.
