His seat was empty again. I didn't expect him to tell me he wouldn't make it today after lashing out on me the first two minutes into winter break. We've also mended things since then. He said he gets very angry when he's high because it reminded him of the time he lost the game for his whole team when he showed up to a game baked. I try to understand Kit but it's hard sometimes. He confused me every time we were together. I got a little clarity when he admitted that he liked me. Even though I'm not sure if I feel the same because I've never liked a guy before. I don't even know about Harvey, I just feel for him. Maybe they're both missing something.

"It's the third day and he's still not here? I know he's not dead cause he's replying to my texts except the ones where I ask why he isn't showing up to class." Rudy groaned as she took her seat next to Kit's empty spot. "So! I never asked how your winter break went? I told you about mine though and I bet it was more exciting."

I gave a shy shrug. "What is better than going on a ski trip with Harvey and his wealthy ass parents?" Rudy's jaw dropped. "Yeah, yeah. I guess things are speeding up but I understand why. He goes off to college in a few months and that's only if he can choose one."

"I chose ASU. I get an early decision in March." I applauded Rudy. "Sierra might go there or somewhere in Texas but I hope ASU. We can get a dorm and it'll be like we moved in together." Her eyes started sparkling thinking about her love. Did my eyes sparkle when thinking about Harvey? "So... Harvey and Kit might be on good terms."

I nodded. "April and I sat them both down and let them talk it out. I believe they were being truthful with each other. That's why I don't think he's missing school because of what happened over winter break. Probably some family issues."

"Yeah... probably."

The moment Mrs. May started talking, we both turned our attention forward. Since Kit's broad body wasn't here to block me from the front of the class, I couldn't sneak and use my phone when I got bored. I didn't even have anyone to bother since Rudy barely talked during lesson time. Class just wasn't right without him. I miss him.

I rose my hand high so Mrs. May could see it. "Can I use the restroom?" She nodded and quickly got back to teaching. I shoved my phone in my back pocket and left the classroom gripping onto my jacket. The halls seemed colder than usual. I quickly made my way to the nearest restroom and the worst cold breeze shocked me. When searching for the source, of course it was the window cracked open. "Why would they open the windows during winter."

Using the counter as a step stool, I reached to close the window so I could do the next girl a favor. Just before I could get it closed all the way, I heard chattering and laughing from outside. Both noises came from a familiar voice. Standing on my tip toes gave me a better look who was out there. Kit was the first person I saw and the back of someone's head was the next.

Screw using the restroom, I wanted to know why he was skipping class. So I rushed right out the back door and around the back to the crook of the corner where nothing but asphalt resided. It was probably the only place teachers didn't go since it was way out of the way of the giant schools normal path.

"Kit!" He and some guy I've never seen before turned to face me with huge smiles on their face. In between Kit's finger tips was a blunt. "What- who is that?"

Kit chuckled as smoke or cold air came out of his mouth. Maybe it was a mix of the two. "Oh, this is my buddy Jamal. He came to help me out a little," he waved the blunt around which only made me frown.

"A white boy named Jamal?" I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Actually, I'm light skin. Respect the people, sister."
