Natsuki shakily twisted the half rusted doorknob of her room open. A school bag on her shoulders, she was dressed in a typical school uniform. The door softly screeched open, revealing the semi-rundown hallway. Why was Natsuki so terrified of walking down that flight of old wooden stairs? Not because the near rotted planks posed a very large threat to her health. But because she had woken up late, and she was late for school. If her father were to find her she'd receive a beating she'd never forget. Not that she's forgotten what her horrible excuse for a father had done to her previously anyway. She began to make her way down the stairs, if she was lucky, her father would be passed out on the couch. Natsuki set both her feet on the floor, much more stable then those stairs, looking around for any sign of her devil parent. After she saw her father walk into the downstairs bathroom she made a run for the front door. Struggling to open it due to the fact her father could come out any second now and she was heavily worried about that, but eventually getting it open. She softly shut the door behind her then began sprinting to her school.
After the petite girl had made it far enough away from her hellhole called 'home' she slowed to a walk. Natsuki looked around herself. The sidewalk hadn't been fixed since some worker accidentally destroyed a small portion of it doing his job, which was a year ago. The small burger place looked as rough and sketchy as ever, though it had good food. The old theater building had yet to find a new purpose other than taking up space. Most of the trees were neglected and rotting from the inside out. Natsuki looked to the alley way, a few smokers had joined together there, one of them Natsuki had a run in with before, he actually turned out to be a pretty nice guy. The only reason Natsuki really liked this town was for it's library, and the plethora of manga they had there. Her father had deemed those books childish and unnecessary. Natsuki looked up, there was a few vultures circling further away, probably over some roadkill. Closer to her, she saw a small family of birds up in a tall tree, the father and mother were teaching their children to fly.
Natsuki crossed the road and finally made it to her highschool. This entire neighborhood was full of rich people, and it looked much nicer then the rest of the town. She walked through the front door, they had just dismissed the final period. Did she really spend that much time walking? Apparently so, because everybody was excitably talking about their clubs. Natsuki was in a club, yeah, but it was farther back, Natsuki was a part of the Literature Club. It was a place where she could read in peace, and there were only four other people. The club president, Monika. Vice pres Sayori. Then Yuri and MC. Yuri was Natsuki's biggest problem when it came to club time. Yuri absolutely hated manga, and she read these big, thick books that could probably break someone's bones if you threw it hard enough. But at the same time, Yuri was really nice, and she always looked stunning. Maybe Natsuki could try to be friends with her instead of the two fighting all the time. That could work. But then there was MC. Natsuki had tried to apologize before but MC always had gotten in the way, he always tries to flirt with Yuri, which Natsuki could tell Yuri was uncomfortable with. Maybe MC was her biggest problem in the club.
Natsuki pushed open the club room door. Once the door was shut again Sayori immediately ran over the the short girl and embraced her. Squeezing a tiny bit to hard for Natsuki's liking. After Sayori let go. Natsuki scanned the clubroom, same wooden floor, same chalkboard decorated in all sorts of weird drawings Sayori made. A bulletin board showcasing the achievements of the members in the club. Sayori winning the hotdog eating contest, Monika's poem that was deemed amazing by the student council. Yuri with her medal for winning the spelling bee, and Natsuki's own cupcakes topping the ones made by the actual baking club were among those achievements. Oh wait, Yuri. Yuri hadn't gotten here yet, but everyone else was here. That was strange to Natsuki considering Yuri is usually the first person to arrive.
