Loud, groaning sounds could be heard echoing in the night sky as the hellish bright red moon shines upon a ruined city. The roads were littered with decayed corpses, dried blood and broken cars while overgrown mutated grass was hung upon the sides. Moss, cobwebs, dirt and grime can be seen in most houses due to lack of care as no people are inhabiting them.

Four Years.

Exactly four years have passed ever since the apocalypse has dawned upon the world. The end came as surprise just at the time when a grand celebration was happening, causing the majority to be infected and turned. The world was thrown in utter pandemonium, there was only chaos due to the occurrence of Undead and mutated plants as well as animals. Violence, scavenging, schemes and death became a regular sight.

No laws, no rules, and without government to uphold, civilization and peace went down the drain. It was survival of the fittest, and hesitation may cause one an instant death. Zombies freely roamed the world without restraint and humanity no longer belonged on the top of the food chain. Hope was lost, people went on hiding, fearing for their lives.

Until...

Arcus Sullivan, the youngest known major general in history, made an appearance and single-handedly built the first-ever base together with his remaining division. A base that quickly became known as the first haven. His fame and reputation came to a high rise, with almost everyone knowing about his meritorious deeds.

Many people came over, risking their lives to trudge forth towards this safe haven. In the end, none arrived disappointed. Along with his rise in fame, his power also grew exponentially as he proceeded to train harder daily in hopes to one day have the world return to what it once was.

He practically just trained himself hard enough that he gained an eight-pack when he originally only has some fat before. And his once soft porcelain white skin that would quickly redden once pinched became tanned with rock-hard muscles. He outright just turned into a Male pheromone dispenser that was oozing out attractiveness. Coupled with his more than outstanding looks, exemplary talents, and a masterpiece of a body, any woman (or man) would willingly throw themselves at him. Some even risked their chastity and present it to him on a silver platter.

Too bad for those who were attracted to him though, as he was too busy with his affairs to even bother to take a glance.

When a year passed, just when everyone thought that their lives are about to turn stagnant with the only option of hiding, another strange phenomenon occured. The majority of humanity had suddenly fallen ill and they were diagnosed with an uncomfortable degree of fever. When the fever passes, it was either that the one with the illness gained a certain ability or ended up dead and turned into a rotting, walking corpse. Most of the remaining population became Undead while the minority gained special abilities.

The factors for determining the strength of the gained ability is how strong the fever is and how long it lasted. As for how to determine what type of ability, it depends on the user's inner affinity, strength, and will. Though, the key factor in one's inner affinity. Strength is the factor for growth while mental strength(will) is for the possibility of being a multiple ability user.

At most, the fever can only last for a week or two as any longer will be deemed as a fail of gaining ability. Arcus Sullivan, like your typical protagonist, was the first to ever become an ability user, and a multiple ability user at that. His fever lasted for two whole weeks and the degree of his fever is about 48°C when the norm was about 39°C ~ 45°C. Even the people who have conducted certain researches on him thought he was going to die.

Contrary to their thoughts, Arcus Sullivan survived and became the strongest ability user ever with the strength that enabled him to defeat hordes of normal undead. Everyone idolized and praised him to the skies, no one dared to sully his name. And humanity came up on top due to his contributions. Everyone lived in leisure, without feeling the pressure as they could now kill the undead with ease.
