We had a destructive relationship. Our love was, toxic, you could say.
I was an upcoming actress, about to make my break in the latest X-Men film.
He was an upcoming musician, in a successful band soon to headline Download Festival.
We met when I was 15, and he was 27. We clicked. We connected. I knew there and then that he was going to make or break the rest of my life. He took a little more convincing.
We met at Slam Dunk festival, 2015. He'd just come off stage and me and my friend were walking around the back to the food tent. My friend Sam noticed them straight away and whispered to me, but I couldn't find them in the crowds until I was elbow to elbow with the singer. He was tall, about 6ft. Tanned, muscular, straight white teeth and golden brown hair. His voice. That's what I remember most. The way it sent shivers up my spine and set the hair on my arms up straight. Colour rose to my cheeks as I fumbled for words. His voice was deep and croaky, with a London twang. When he smiled his voice got higher and croakier. I felt faint just looking at him.
"Hey, could you pass me a kebab please?" That was the first sentence he ever spoke to me. Charming right?
"Yeah sure! Erm, chicken or lamb?"
"Chicken please."
"I saw you guys on stage, you were amazing." I blushed. A lot. He beamed at me which made me feel a little sick from butterflies.
"Really?! That's awesome! Thank you, who else did you see today?"
Oh god. His smile. His eyes. His voice. I was swooning like a frigging princess.
"We went to see You Me At Six and Lower Than Atlantis earlier, they were pretty awesome!"
"Ah cool! Want to come over and meet the rest of the guys?"
To this, I looked over at my friend and she shook her head. WHAT?! I looked at her like she was crazy and motioned her over.Just before I followed Rob - the singer - and joined the rest of them, Sam dragged me to one side.
"Do you realise who they are?! We can't go hang with them, we don't even know them!"
"So what Sam?! Rob just asked me to go over and meet the guys so I'm not exactly going to say no am I?"
"Sian. I swear to God, if you go over there you'll be finding your own way back to the hotel. Me and Reece will not wait for you."
What the fuck has gotten into this girl?! Reece would be fine with it, he was her 23 year old brother and had gone off to watch Beartooth with his girlfriend Dana.
"Sam come on! I'm going over there no matter what so you either come with me and enjoy yourself or stand over here like a loner. Your decision."
As if she didn't believe what I said, she just stood there and folded her arms. So I left her. The unspoken rule when it comes to festivals. Never leave your friend.Rob held out his arm for me to follow and smiled widely at me. I grinned back and took his hand. He was too far away to hear our "whispered" conversation, so he just thought we were freaking out.
"Why isn't your friend coming?" He asked, his brows furrowed and my heart sank.
"She has to make a phone call, but she said she'll meet up with me later." Such a bullshit excuse. He saw through it. Probably because she was glaring at me. I seriously don't know why she didn't just come along?! They're sound guys, and we were only going to chat for a bit before everyone noticed them and they had to go sign stuff and take photos.
That's what I thought anyway.
As we waked over to the rest of the guys - Si, Tom and Matt - Rob's hand got a little sweaty. Not gonna lie, it made me giggle a little. Was he nervous? No way, must have been the weather.
