"You're late."
He doesn't even turn to face me. All he heard was the large ornate metal door shut to his chambers and already he's disappointed. I stand silent, hoping to unnerve him.
He turns and seems slightly startled for a moment, then chuckles and dips his head into a neat smile.
"So who have they sent me instead of who I requested? A desperate girl-"
"I am the head of the companionship guild," I replied coldly, not moving a hair.
He glanced upwards at me, facial expressions remaining the same. I don't know what he wants to play at, but whatever it is, it won't work.
"What, am I running through your services too quickly? Afraid of me?" He chuckles, "I can assure you, your employees are most satisfied when they visit-"
"You treat my employees how you treat anything," I spit.
"And how's that?" He asks.
"As a means to an end."
"And is that such a crime?" He continues, "isn't that what you're hired for?"
"You won't be having any returning guests I'm afraid," I reply, "not until you prove yourself worthy."
"Careful choice in words," he says with a hiss in his voice, and in my good imagination, it was to hide a tremble. "You did your research. Obsessed now, are we?"
"When Valkyries can fly without horses," I scoff.
"And is that what you think you are? A mighty Valkyrie here to defeat me?" He sneered. The prince is tall, a few years into his adulthood. His arms while strong are still gangly, which is why he seemed to hug them at all times. But I was not looking to make any more of a man out of him.
"I am here to determine if you are worthy of our services again," I state coldly, still not moving from the space since I arrived. His gaze smoldered into a glare. Ah, so flattery was his game. I'll be sure to never use it. His brows pulled forward.
"I will bend you into any shape that I want, mold you back into yourself only to allow you to sputter my name, and leave you just when you start to beg for more," he growled. He was trying to unnerve me, or was it an attempt to excite me? But I've dealt with his type many a time before.
Now is the time I take my first step towards him. I roll my shoulders back, relax my posture, and glide with each step.
"Are we only just getting started?" I speak, curling my words in my mouth, "please do go on, I want to hear your worst plans with me." My gaze softens, my trained irises widening, definitely catching the thousands of twinkling lights hovering near the ceiling.
Smirking, he rests back on his heels, believing he regained control. I slowly step towards him as he goes on, smiling coyly, letting him think he's luring me.
"You will do as I command you," he continues, "I will ride you like a champion on a horse; you will never know peace until you crawl back to my feet once again. Now kneel before me," He stops right as I reach where he stands.
"Charming, prince," I say with a purr in my voice, and with one swift move before he could react, throw him down onto his four-post bed. I don't lose him for longer than a moment. His bewildered face turns to me awkwardly, and still, on his back, he managed to materialize a dagger up to, but barely against, my throat. His position is unsteady, but he does not attempt to squirm away. His chest heaves with deep breaths.
"You want a challenge?" He gasps.
"No," I reply cooly, leaning down and licking the dagger slowly along its flat side down to his hand, feeling the coolness of the dagger fade into the ice of his knuckles. I come up and lean closer to where the tip of the dagger barely grazes my neck, "there is none," I reply. Again in a swift motion, I entwine our legs and flip the prince over onto his back completely and place my hands on top of his, holding him into place. He shifts, testing my strength, and freezes, determining there is no use or dignity in struggling free.
