Prelude

Vancouver General Hospital

"Riley is mine! We already had this discussion, Hailey!" A furious Chad Kroeger yells at his ex girlfriend, Hailey Spencer.

"I know, but can't I just hold them both for a few moments Chad? Say goodbye to her?" Hailey asks and Chad nods as he sets HIS newborn daughter in her arms.

"Goodbye Riley. Hopefully we'll be able to see each other soon." She says before handing Chad his daughter back.

Four years later.....
2003

Abbotsford, Canada

Riley Anna Kroeger is outside playing with her 8 year old brother, Robert "Robbie" Kroeger, and her 6 year old brother Tyler "Ty-Ty" Kroeger, in their fathers pool.

Their father, Chad Kroeger, is watching them from the grill where he is preparing their dinner for this evening.

"Boys, watch Riley." Chad tells his older sons as he grills the steaks to perfection.

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Felix Destiny Kroeger is outside looking for her 9 year old sister, Grace "Gracie" Marie Jones, and 7 year old sister, Lillian "Lilly" Kay Williams, on their mothers small property.

"Girls! Dinner is ready!" Their tired mother calls, causing all the girls to rush into the house to eat the dinner that was prepared.

Abbotsford, Canada
That night

"Tell me a story Daddy!" Four year old Riley asks Chad, who smiles as he grabs her book of Goodnight Moon and begins to read it to her.

She falls asleep within the first two pages and Chad knows he'll have to finish reading it to her tomorrow night. He places the book on her nightstand before tucking her into bed and turning on her Little Mermaid night light.

Chad walks down the hall and checks on his middle child, Tyler, who is sound asleep with his Playstation controller on his bed. Chad turns the system off and tucks his six year old son into bed, turning on his Shrek nightlight before leaving his room.

He goes to his oldest child's, Robert, room next and sees that his eight year old son is still up, reading a Marvel comic book.

"Bud, it's time for bed. You guys have school in the morning." Chad tells Robbie, who nods as he sets the comic on his nightstand before covering up.

"Night Dad." He says and Chad gives him a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room and going to his own.

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

"Mommy come read me a story!" Four year old Felix asks her Mom, who complies, grabbing her daughters copy of Little Red Riding Hood before sitting with her second youngest daughter.

The tiny four year old falls asleep within the first two pages of the story, and knowing she'll have to finish it, Hailey sets the book on her second youngest daughter's dresser before tucking her into bed. She turns on her daughters stale white nightlight before leaving the room.

Walking to her older daughters' room, she sees that they are working on their homework from the week before.

"Girls, bedtime. You guys have school tomorrow." Hailey tells her 9 and 7 year old daughters as they put the homework away and get into their beds. Hailey makes quick work of tucking them in to bed and turning on the stale white nightlight in their room.

She then he's into the nursery, where her newborn baby girl, Brianna "Bri" Kayla Spencer, is sound asleep. She grabs the baby monitor to the room and goes to the living room where there is a fold out couch and lies down.

The nursery will eventually go back to being her bedroom once she can put the crib into Felix's room, but due to the emergency C-section she had, she isn't allowed to lift anything over ten pounds until her next Doctor's appointment.

Overly exhausted, Hailey crashes on the couch sleeping soundly until her alarm for five thirty goes off.
