it was 7 pm on a December night. Jean and her Husband was celebrating their 4 year anniversary in a very nice restaurant. The two of them just sat at looked at each other with love in both of their eyes. Oh, they were so in love. Life was so great. They had a lot of plans for the future and they were trying for a baby. No luck yet.

"Charles, thank you so much for this amazing dinner." Jean said smiling after they finished eating.

"Of course, anything for you, my love." Charles said while putting his hand out for Jean to grab.

When they got home, they got ready for bed. When they were done, they laid down besides each other in their bed.

"I've been invited to this christmas thing with my family. They don't want you to come since you're not christian... can i go?" Jean whispered to Charles.

"Sure. when is it?" He answered.

"Well, it's actually tomorrow... so i'll have to go early." Jean said with a disappointing look on her face.

"Alright, have fun then tomorrow, honey. i might not see you tomorrow so remember to be safe and i love you."

"I love you too." Jean said and kissed his cheek.

The next morning, Jean woke up early and tried to be as quiet as possible. She was actually surprised over how heavy of a sleeper Charles was. He didn't wake up at all.

She got in her car and drove off. God, she was tired, but she tried her best to focus on driving and not zoning out. But that didn't go that well.. Jean was completely zoned out while driving on a highway. Suddenly she zones out by the sound of a loud honk. She flinched and looked to her left. A truck. It was only 2 feet away from her. She didn't get enough time to think of anything before everything went black.

She couldn't feel or see or move, only hear. She heard yelling, honks and then a siren.

Her hearing slowly fainted over a few minuets. Suddenly she saw light. A blue-tinted light. She heard people talking, but she couldn't hear what they were talking about. The talking got louder and louder until it was almost impossible to hear voices anymore. Now it was just a loud ringing noise. Suddenly the light and the noise disappeared. She woke up quickly after that.

She sighed. "Phew, it was just a dream." the whispered under her breath.

She looked next to her, but Charles was nowhere in sight. She got up and looked around in her room. "That's strange" she thought to herself.

Hours went by. No sign of her husband. Until she heard the door open very aggressively. She flinched and ran out to the doorway. It was Charles. He was crying hysterically.

"Honey, why are you crying?" Jean asked confused and worried.

No answer.

"Honey?" Jean repeated.

Still no answer.

Her eyes made contact with the mirror. She slowly walked towards it.

She was now standing in front of it. But, she could't see herself in it.

"What the..." She said in a faint voice.

"Charles? Can you hear me? Please." She said while tapping his arm aggressively.

No answer.

Tears began to stream down her non-existing face. She tapped his arm more and more aggressively.

No reaction from him.

Suddenly she remembered. She was dead. But why wasn't she a ghost then? She couldn't fly or go through walls like ghosts could. She was just a human that no one could feel, hear or see.
