"Simon, I think it's about time that my mother meets you."
Wilhelm laid in bed with Simon resting his head on his shoulders. This discussion had been a long time coming but Simon knew it would have had to happen eventually.
After the sex tape leaked and Wilhelm denied it was him their relationship wasn't as strong. This caused them split apart during Christmas break. When Wilhelm got back he told Simon that he discussed it with his mother and that if they only were seen together at Hillerska they could date each other.
Even though Simon was still Wilhelm's secret to the rest of the world he was still his boyfriend to everyone at Hillerska. For some reason he liked it better this way. He liked not being stormed by the media.Simon had never really met the queen in person. Except for the one time she came to talk to Wilhelm about the sex tape. She really didn't say anything to him that day though. Even after almost a year of them dating Simon's never been into the palace or formally meet the queen. He also didn't mind this either.
"Simon? did you hear me?"
Wilhelm looked over to see Simon just sitting there. He knew this would startle him but it was his mother's idea. Wilhelm actually liked the idea because it meant his mother cared about him. It also meant the queen liked Simon and wanted to get to meet him.
"Yeah sorry just thinking."
Simon finally responded after what felt like an eternity but was probably in fact only twelve seconds.
"Do you think this is a good idea?"
Sitting up now the two boys had this conversation face to face to better understand how the other was feeling. They could tell a lot about each other just by facial features. Sometimes Simon knew what Wilhelm actually wanted to do because of his face even though he'd say something else.
"My mother actually suggested it."
This made the curly haired boy more anxious than before. At first he thought Wilhelm was the one he suggested it to his mother. If it had been that way it would have been more casual. Now it's more serious. It had now become a bigger deal. Wilhelm's mother personally requested to meet him.
"Wilhelm, can you give me a few days to think about it. I love you a lot but this is a very stressful situation for me. I know your mother's changed but she's still the queen. It's not just meeting my boyfriends parents it's meeting the queen as well."
Wilhelm hugged his boyfriend. This time Wilhelm could tell by Simon's words and facial expressions that he was freaking out. The two boys sat hugging for awhile. The didn't move and single inch. If someone would've past by them the would have thought they were just statues.
"You can take all the time you need. I want to you be comfortable when meeting my mom. She's just wants to meet you. This isn't you meeting the queen it's you meeting my mother. I know I said take your time but I do need an answer in three days so she can prepare."
Three days Simon could work with that. Before he knew it though those three days flew by in an instant. He was now in the back seat of a car holding hands with Wilhelm on the way to the palace. With Simon's free hand he stated to adjust every part of his outfit. He adjusted his tie at least thirty-two times in the span on twenty seconds. Wilhelm looked over to see his worried state and kissed him on the cheek.
"Calm down Simon it'll be okay. You didn't have to dress up she won't care how you look. She's actually really excited to meet you. She cooked the dinner we're having tonight herself. Let's just hope it turns out okay."
Simon, the boy his enemies at his school called the socialist and his friends called curls, began to smile now. Knowing that Wilhelm's mother made the dinner herself instead of ordering someone to do it showed how much she cared about him. He was actually glad to meet the queen now. Luckily he came to this realization when he did because they were arriving at the palace.
Simon counted the steps of the palace as he walked. Twenty-five steps. He realized this wasn't a lot but compared to his one step leading to his front door it was. Guards greeted the two boys. Simon said hello to every signal guard he meet and thank you. This included the guards on the steps, the ones who opened the front doors, and the ones inside all the way to the kitchen. Which added to a complete total of forty-six hellos and a total of fifty-eight thank yous.
"You don't have to say hello or thank you to them every time. They understand we're great full for everything they do."
The queen sat in the kitchen alone with her husband. She asked all the guards to leave so she could have some time alone with them.
The night started easy as they ate. None of them wanted to talk a lot other then a few words between bites. But once dinner ended the question began.
"So Simon you've been at Hillerska the whole time correct?"
Simon nodded his head his little curls shuffled around on his head.
"You will continue to enroll there next year is that also correct?"
Simon sat there for awhile he knew the answer to this question but didn't want to discus it with Wilhelm yet. His small bubble at Hillerksa would be gone. His grades have slipped and his family couldn't afford it anymore.
"Actually I won't be returning after this term. The price is to extreme and my family can no longer afford it."
He looked down in shame. He could feel the motions of the boy he loved siting next to him. Wilhelm was getting anxious. He didn't want to loose Simon. Wilhelm wanted to do something but didn't know what to do.
"Nonsense boy. You've made my son extremely happy I'm sure I can work something out with your mother and father so you can continue to enroll in Hillerska."
Wilhelm's dad said something for the first time that night. Simon could feel Wilhelm calm down. Now he knew Wilhelm was just excited that his father loved his boyfriend so much that he'd be willing to do that for him. Wilhelm also knew what Simon was thinking about and knew what was about to come.
"I think that's a splendid idea!"
Wilhelm's mother chimed in.
"Thank you but it's actually just my mother. My dad wasn't really in the picture and he overdosed last spring."
Simon said so calmly to people who didn't know The whole story it would almost seem concerning. Luckily Wilhelm had this conversation with his mother when it happened he just apparently forgot to inform his father.
"My apologies."
They sat in silence for a bit. But it quickly changed to a lively evening once again. They they talked about more enjoyable conversations.
"No how'd the two of you actually fall in love. I realized I never though to ask Wilhelm that."
Wilhelm rolled his eyes at his mother. He hated this question he didn't want his mother to learn about the story if that night.
"I actually kissed Wilhelm first. After that he got all nervous and I started to walked away. He told me he wasn't like that but then pulled me in for another kiss."
Wilhelm groaned at the ceiling. Simon just told one of the most embarrassing stories of Wilhelm's life. The queen just chuckled at her son's stupidity.
"I hate yo bring him up but I remember Erik telling me before he passed away Wilhelm met somebody at Hillerska and wanted to spend the weekend with them. I was never sure of it but was that you? I just remember Erik said he spoke so fondly about this person who be called Wilhelm's Crush."
This was a story Simon had never heard before. His face lit up brighter than the sun. While Wilhelm's turned as red as a tomato.
"Wilhelm's Crush, I quite like that nickname."
This conversation was quickly ended by Wilhelm nudging Simon hard in the shoulder.
The rest of the night was incredible. Kristina fell in love with Simon so much so that Wilhelm now was skeptical who his mother liked more.
The two boys left that night overjoyed by the thought of how happy they made each other and how happy they would make each other for the rest of their lives.
