Toby Day
I run down the road, passing everyone I know. It's a beautiful summer evening and everyone seems to be out in their front garden. I'm stopped by two boys, the younger one, Eric, has blonde hair, most likely dyed, as his older brother, and really his whole family have black hair. The other boy, Sam, has longish black hair. I groan and slouch.
"Eric, Sam..." I mutter.
"Colette." They say at the exact same time. I hate when people call me Colette. No, it's not my real name. Toby is. Colette is my middle name, and most people call me that, as they all know, Toby is a boys name. "So, where are you going?" Eric asks me, flicking my rainbow hair off my shoulder. "To go find your boyfriend?"
"Logan isn't my boyfriend you douche bag..." I mutter. They laugh annoyingly. I push past them and continue running. I open the door of the last house on the street. It's not my house, if you're thinking that, it's my best friends. I walk upstairs towards is room and open the door.
"Logan! Come on, you're 20 minutes getting ready!" I shout at him. I sigh and laugh as he's spent the last 20 minutes on his stupid emo hair. I run up to him and mess it up again. His groan turns into more of a high pitched whine now. I laugh.
"Oh very funny Toby!" He says, scowling at me. "Next thing you know, you'll be water bending it or something."
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that...
I'm an element bender.
That's me. Toby Day. B-List Element Bender, A-List pain in the ass.

I could see in the distance, through thick surrounding of the trees, the sun was no where near setting and through the canopy of leaves above me I noticed the sky was still blue.
I was thankful for these summer evenings.
It was warm, obviously, unlike winter. Winter was such an unforgiving season to the homeless.
And though I'd only been cast out of my home a year ago, it felt like forever because of the cold.
Nobody who I ever knew approves of me.
I don't understand.
This world is so judgemental.
I pull my thin blanket up over my knees, over my chest, trying to make it reach my shoulders without revealing my tattered shoes.
I smiled up to the sky, sub-consciously thanking the sun for it's warmth.
Far away there was a tint of pink crawling it's way into the few clouds that were moving in to finally smother the sun for the day, and the moon would be out.
I leant back against the tree I was sat against, closing my eyes momentarily before standing up and beginning walking.
I had been through a whole lot of confusing things over the past few years that still cluttered my mind, but in this moment, I felt happy.
Something shining white caught my eye about 100metres off, my extreme curiosity caused my feet to start running in that direction and I came to a gate.
And ahead of me was a pure white building.
But I found the gate just wouldn't open, and I had to try and subdue my raging curiosity.
I sigh, then laugh weakly.
Denied once more. And this time by an in-animate object. I smiled ruefully towards the building, though still admiring it's pure beauty.
