We all know the story by now. Two siblings, torn apart by the actions of their father. In a rage, one swore to reinvent the world, while the other opposed her twin and helped to save it. Both died.

Olivia and Olly. The Origami siblings.

But what if.....

What if the craftsman hadn't been so foolish?

What if he didn't write his message?

What if Olly hadn't become King Olly, the Origami Overlord? What if he'd stayed as just Olly?

What if the origami festival had gone on?

But what if things had still, somehow, gone wrong?

This is that story.

"Olly! Ooo-llyyy! Wake up!"

The Olly in question slowly dragged his eyelids open, met with the ever-so-slightly blurred image of Olivia kneeling next to him on the bed.

"Good morning." Olly said to his sister. "Why are you waking me up so early?" She wasn't in the slightest. It was 10:37.

"Don't tell me you forgot! We need to get ready for the festival!" Olivia bounced up and down on the bed, a ball or energy even this early. Olly pushed himself up to a sitting position as he pushed the covers off of his lap.

"Where's Dad?" Olly questioned. Usually, the craftsman woke them up, but it seemed like Olivia was too keyed up to have slept much the previous night.

"The captain's helping him load the displays onto the boat. He said for us to get ready while they get everything onboard." Olly glanced at his bed.

"Olivia."

"Yeah?"

"....You're sitting on my legs. I can't get up."

"Oh!" Olivia stood up, sliding a bit from her socks hitting the slick wood floor. Olly stood beside her, grabbing his crown off of his nightstand and placing it firmly on his head. "Let's get breakfast."

The twins descended the stairs into the small kitchen. Olly grabbed a box of cereal from the cupboard while Olivia opened the fridge, pulling out milk. The two worked in tandem, pouring two bowls of cereal (with the milk AFTER, thank you very much) and two cups of coffee, sitting at the small, worn table. The two talked as they ate, mostly Olivia excitedly wondering about the festival while Olly occasionally chimed in.

"Ooh, why if they have those cranes that go on the water and bite you sometimes, but they don't bite you and they can fly!"

"I doubt they'll have flying origami swans, Olivia."

"Hmm. Probably. Still," Olivia took a sip of coffee, "it's exciting to think about. What do you think they'll have?"

"Hmm." Olly thought for a moment. "Maybe they'll have....." Olly looked at his bowl, now only holding a small puddle of milk. "....origami cereal." Olivia giggled before a sharp bang startled the siblings. They rushed to the back door, where the craftsman was struggling to fit a particularly large crane through the door without crumpling the neck. He noticed the two.

"Oh, kids! Good morning! Would you, uh-" the bottom of the crane nearly slipped through the craftsman's fingers "-mind helping us with this?" Olivia grabbed the other side of the crane as Olly gently pulled the neck out of the way. Together, the four shimmied through the house and onto the small tugboat the captain called his own. The four set down the crane among an assortment of other origami statues.
