Heart Attack

Chapter 7

"Phoenix, take the Tesseract and hide." Loki finally managed to choke out, and I blinked. I wanted to argue, but I wasn't sure I wanted to even meet the presence that was beginning to suffocate me. With a nod, Loki pulled out the Tesseract, and I took it using my magic to hide it away so that only I would be able to retrieve it. I gave Loki a quick kiss, before making myself invisible, and left the room to hide, terrified. Not only of that presence, but also of the horrible bad feeling that had began to take root in my gut. Something told me that people were going to die, and I began praying that I would not have Loki taken away from me... I wasn't sure I could live in a black and white world after living in color...

Chapter 7

I was hiding, when I felt the ship begin to shake. I heard screaming, and I cowered while covering my ears. I... I knew I could help them, but to do so would be going against what I promise Loki. So I suffered through the screams while remaining hidden, trying my hardest to not make a sound and give away my hiding spot. After a little while, everything was quiet. I didn't even hear voices, and I felt a chill run down my spine. Just as I went to peak around the corner, still invisible, I felt someone bump into me. Fuck! I covered my mouth and tried to sneak away, but their hands grabbed me, causing my invisibility to break. I looked and saw that it was one of the members from the group that attacked us. The Black Order. The one who found me made my skin crawl just from being by her. Proxima Midnight. She grabbed my hair, and begin yanking me towards the purple Titan that stood facing out the windows of the ship, Thanos. I saw Loki freeze when he saw me, and I smiled sadly at him.

"Nyx..." Loki murmured with more emotion behind his voice than I wanted. Now, now Thanos would know we mean something to each other. Which wouldn't end well. At all. Proxima stopped me right by Thanos, still gripping my hair tightly.

"Loki, I'll be okay. I promise." I murmured to Loki who was still close. Proxima threw me down, and I fell the ground by Thanos' feet as he turned around to look at me. Before I could even react, he grabbed the top of my head, squeezing just enough to prevent me from fighting against him. Even if I could, I stood no chance against the Infinity Stones.

"Will you now?" Thanos asked, turning to face Loki who was glaring at Thanos with an anger that I never would have pictured on such a calculating face. Loki was seriously pissed, and I prayed his genuine anger would get either of us killed...

"Let her go, Thanos. She has nothing to do with this." Loki said, and Thanos chuckled quietly so that only I could hear him. Which made me think he was starting to realize that I meant something to Loki... Oh no...

"Loki, it's okay." I murmured, trying to get him to back down. As much as I cared for Loki, I... I couldn't risk our lives. Not after we just found one another.

"Give us the Tesseract. Otherwise, she will pay for your consequences." Thanos said, and I stared at Loki wide eyed. Thanos didn't know... he didn't know I had the Tesseract. If he killed me? He would never get his hands on the Tesseract. I felt tears fill my eyes, knowing that the only way to keep everyone safe would be to die. But to keep Thanos from learning this, we had to make him believe Loki had the Tesseract.

"Don't do it!" I shouted at Loki, who blinked at my shout, before realizing the same thing I did. I saw his fall slightly, and I knew he seemed to be struggling with what to do. After a moment, he looked to Thanos, his face hiding any emotion.

"Go right ahead." Loki said, and I steeled a breath knowing I was about to be in a world of pain.

Right after I said those words, I watched Nyx take a deep breath preparing herself. Thanos started to use the power stone, and the gauntlet glowed purple as he brought it to Nyx's head. The moment she started screaming in pain, I fought from running to her.
