I came round at about 4.27am the next morning, greeted by a heavy nose bleed and raw throat. I looked down to find my hand enveloped in somebody else's. My dad was slumped in one of the chairs, sound asleep. Brendon's hand was the one mine held. I smiled slightly before raising my free hand to stall the blood.

"Cassie," I looked back down to a groggy looking Brendon, his eyes widened at the sight of blood and he grabbed a tissue, mopping it up carefully.

"Are you okay?" I managed to ask, he just chuckled at me. "What?"

"You're the one lying in hospital and you're asking me if I'm okay? God damn. " He muttered but ending up laughing again. My dad stirred and I shot brendon a dirty look and he recoiled knowingly.

"Case, you're awake," his voice was soft as he came over and enveloped me in a tight hug. I winced as my back stung.

"You don't remember much do you?" Brendon asked. I shook my head. The only thing I remember was sitting in that office, willing to die.

"Anyone for caffeine?" All heads snapped to the door where Tyson stood. Slightly longer but still as messy hair, blue eyes shining bright. My heart dipped. Why was he here?

"What are you doing here?" Brendon growled, sensing my tension.

"I'm her boyfriend, what are you doing here?" He sneered right back. My dad shot him a displeased look.

"No, you aren't. " The three men in the room looked straight at me. My throat burned as I spoke, but it needed to be said. With what Tyson had done he didn't deserve another chance. Plus, he was probably happy enough with that tall blonde he was with the other day.

"Cassie, of course I am, "

The sound of my name coming from him caused tears to roll down my cheeks and anger to rise in my throat, "Get the fuck out Tyson, or god help you I will shove a dead rat up your ass!"

In the corner of my eye I saw Brendon slap a hand to his mouth, stalling his laughter. My dad looked between Ty and me, gaging what was to happen next. He placed the coffees on the bedside table before leaving.

Commotion outside aroused me, "Brendon, can you go see what thats all about?"

He gave a curt nod and reached for the curtain, slowly dragging it across. Suddenly Brendon was under two grappling men. One which was Tyson, the other Hunter. A little smile slipped onto my face as Hunter made a hit to Tysons cheek. Brendon struggled from underneath the two guys and managed to get between them. Tyson swung, making a connection with Brendons nose, I cried out.

"Just stop! "

They all stopped and stared wide eyed at me. I put my head in my hands, wondering how I got here. How I got stuck between three guys, who cared (maybe not tyson, well it was hard to believe anyway) in different ways. As I was thinking I caught myself looking at Brendon. The way his chest heaved as he caught his breath, the way his hair flopped slightly into his face. The way his manner softened when he was with me.

"Its him, " Tyson whispered, "Its always been him. "

"What?" Hunter and dad said in unison.

"Shes never loved me, because, " He paused for a second, as if he couldn't bring himself to say it, "She was always in love with him. "

I opened my mouth to argue, but maybe the fact was right. I like the way Tyson treated me, but I liked Brendon as a person. I suddenly realised that I judged him way too quickly, because now he seemed like the only person on earth I could relate to. I looked up from my hands and caught him staring at me, bewilderment evident on his flushed face. His skin was usually pale, it was a nice change. I had always wondered what that burning in the pit of my stomach was whenever he was around. It was love.
